I'm really hoping KU can snag Leach. The guy who runs the KU rivals board says if UCLA wants Leach, he's theirs. If they don't, we have a shot. Sucks that so many solid programs are opening up this year, though. UCLA, ASU, Ole Miss, Illinois, and UNC all seem like more attractive coaching destinations than KU. If we're all pursuing the same guys, I have to figure KU will end up with its 4th or 5th option. Another guy I wouldn't mind taking a run at is June Jones. But I don't know how available he is. Leach definitely wants to go to UCLA. UCLA higher ups want nothing to do with his...oddness. I think UCLA will make an attempt at Chris Petersen, come up short, say they tried for a top tier candidate and get someone like Sumlin. And will be back at this spot in 4-5 years. Sumlin maybe isn't a top tier candidate but I don't see it as a continuation of any pattern. Fair enough. I don't think Sumlin will be able to hang with Oregon, USC and possibly Stanford, and will probably be lumped in the same level as Washington, Cal, Arizona and Arizona St. That said, I don't expect UCLA to end up with someone at Sumlin's level. ESPN says Neuheisel will be fired after the Oregon game. You've been hanging around these low-expectation having Illini fans too long.
