  1. Which is kind of dumb. They definitely should not be using his arm as a primary determining factor in what position he plays at the major league level (mainly in the sense that he'd play a less premium position because his arm is "too strong" for the more premium one, that is - obviously if an arm is too weak for a given position, that would be a real issue). Less wear and tear at 3B than at 2B? Makes sense to me. Couple that with the arm strength thing, seems plausible. As an aside, it doesn't matter to me which spot he winds up at.
  2. Its likely something as simple as not wanting to waste a strong arm at 2B.
  3. Any chance you can explain this? If a guy starts 20+ games at 4-5 positions over the course of a season or maybe starts 50 games at two spots, but someone else starts at that spot more, why is super sub a bad name to use?
  4. Did this happen? Again, people here are putting too much emphasis on the errors. Horrible field and a horrible defensive first baseman has quite a bit to do with that number. I read he's got more throwing errors than fielding(unsure if true). But if it is, even if a solid first baseman saved 7 or 8 of them, the number wouldn't look that bad.
  5. Eh, just more bullpen roulette. Even with a selloff, I honestly think the team will stabilize somewhat into a slightly below average team in the 2nd half, unless major injuries occur. Trading Feldman and Garza won't hurt that much. Villanueva and a return piece from one of those deals likely won't change outcomes much. Trading DeJesus and Soriano may hurt a bit more, but its possible to get a plug and play piece out of one of those deals as well. Plus, I expect Edwin, Rizzo, Castro, and Castillo to play better in the 2nd half. I'll set the final over/under at 68 wins. Bad? Yeah. But we'll have enough in place to make things very interesting for the offseason.
  6. I guess Stewart has officially begun his campaign to get the Cubs to cut him. Asked on Twitter when he'll be in the majors for the Cubs, his response was "probably never". He also retweeted a comment saying he's being misused by an org with horrible leadership. Not sure what can be done with him, but it'd be hard for me not to just sit him on the bench the rest of the year.
  7. Last year it was July 18th. I saw it mentioned somewhere a few weeks ago, but can't find it. For some reason though, I thought it was being held in June this year.
  8. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-mock-draft-1-0-no-time-like-the-present/34008 Posting this to show a few names that haven't been mentioned and it gives a bit of what these guys bring to the table. With the strength of our system being in A+ or lower, I'll go ahead and say I think we'll have the top system in the minors by midseason of next year.
  9. I wish we could have seen the reactions from the FO while this was going on.
  10. Heading into the year, they may have had a leg up on us. They had Buxton, Sano, Arcia, Hicks, and Rosario. But Hicks has graduated and Arcia will very soon. Rosario is pretty damn good in his own right, by the way. But we've certainly passed them, because of sheer numbers. Even with them having 1and 2 if we just ranked between the two systems.
  11. thanks for making me flaccid. .722 OPS for Harvey that year.
  12. For those who look here but not the minor league thread......Javy has 4 homers tonight. Yes, I said 4. In 4 plate appearances. 4.
  13. 4444444444444444444444444444444444444444!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. That's honestly not that bad.....
  15. Javy is a grand slam away from a home run cycle.
  16. There needs to be more happiness going on......Damn.
  17. Javy found my acknowledgment of the mere possibility of my reconversion to be that inspiring. Cool, I'm sold. Now just doom boner Castro into a great 2nd half.
  18. Wait, so you're saying you converted prior to the 2nd bomb?
  19. I'm just about ready to rejoin the bandwagon. [expletive] that. You stay as far as humanly possible away from it. Your doubt is what has him back to doing WTF he wants. Not even a secret bandwagon either. You think Javy will never make it past AA, even after he's a 5 time All Star at 28. Fair?
  20. Between Ventura, Almonte, Smith, and Brickhouse(Ventura may be a pipe dream).....They've definitely got excellent pitching to deal from. Herrera would be a great add on type piece as well. Doubt we could get Duffy, but with Moore, I guess it shouldn't be discounted.
  21. I was hoping Torrez, Leal, or Rodriguez would make the rotation.
  22. Wow, thats underwhelming. Hopefully the new draft class gets some innings in.
  23. Wonder what year it will be when its safe to watch ESPN again?
