  1. The Ricketts family forum: Where people ask about Amtrak schedules and how early they can get drunk at the Arizona facility.
  2. I'm still just voting for one. Alcantara at 6, Pierce at 7....Then it gets interesting, in my opinion.
  3. I hate saying it, but I'd say its 50/50. Dependent upon their performance and the ML team. They signed some pitching, so if they look up at the end of June, see themselves within striking distance of a playoff spot somehow and one or both are doing well? I could see a callup directly to the majors.
  4. What's the point in bringing that up? The Cubs had to negotiate to get that. It's not like it was just given to them. There wasn't. Honestly, I don't remember the Mesa thing that pissed me off, think it had to do with them breaking ground in the surrounding area by a certain time or something and getting that taken away, due to doing nothing.
  5. Ricketts brings up focusing on progress made in 2013. Minors, DR complex(last offseason), and Mesa complex(that was paid in full by others). Hopes to get over the hump and begin renovations soon.
  6. How do you guys interpret Jose Reyes light? 3 war player with a couple years touching 4? Reyes was consistently around 6 barring injuries I could see Alcantara putting up some peak seasons right around his line this past AA season. Something like 270/350/450 with 15 HR and 30 SB.
  7. Doesn't mean they'll go to arb, just means we exchange figures. Still have time to get deals done. We exchanged figures with everyone other than Nate, Valbuena, and Russell, by the way.
  8. But they'd take all the good players.
  9. According to Jesse Sanchez, each team had around an hour with Tanaka.
  10. I would think the vast majority(if not all) of our beat writers are miffed that the national guys break almost all of our news. And if its not the national guys, it's Cafardo or Sherman.
  11. Easiest vote yet.
  12. He needs to sell HER on the future plan too, he's got nothing current.
  13. Me. Who are you? That would be Payton. And if I haven't mentioned on here, read DaBearNecessities and FriendlyBlogfines, Clapp is awesome.
  14. Me. Who are you? Damn dude, we've talked on here, haven't we?
  15. Are we thinking we know the verdict Monday or Tuesday probably? Close has arb filings to deal with tomorrow. Tanaka makes a decision over the weekend, leaks out Monday, travels Tuesday, has physical Wednesday, announced Thursday or Friday?
  16. (Morphing into Kyle, since he's decided to be positive)It sets us up perfectly for second place and a participation award.
  17. I'm also wearing a bra on my head as I type.
  18. It's collectively bargained as a whole. Think of it the same as the national TV deal. There are no internet media rights for the Cubs to sell. Could they start their own online porn site? Something something Clark something I'm sorry we were looking for a davell joke I'm cross-eyed, have chronic arthritis, and can't look at women in the face in real life.
  19. He doesn't think the LA teams are serious. He's worried about the Yanks, but definitely thinks we have a shot.
  20. What if its not about money? I can easily see(kind of expect) him winding up on the West Coast, getting his 100 million and not worrying if he left 20 mill or so on the table. Just think thats where he wants to be. That said, even if it IS the case, its our JOB to convince him otherwise. We need him more than anyone else. As a great man once said, "everybody has a price". To get to his, if we had to pay 40 mill more than the next team, for instance? Screw it, I'm in.
  21. As someone who's "internet known" Brett for over a decade now, is anyone else here that came from SOI?(SonsofIvy)
  22. I've seen a couple of times that Garza's meds are scaring off some teams. If things go according to reports I've seen, Tanaka will see 140 mill, plus the fee. No clue if its over 6 years, 7, or whatever. Ubaldo is currently asking for 4/56, the last I saw. With few teams interested in Garza, the only number I've seen anywhere was 3/39.
  23. If you're the Yankees, how much difference is there from Tanaka, down to Jimenez or Garza? Is he truly going to be worth more than DOUBLE what you'd have to give them or around the same for both? With a team of their age-range, each year is going for it. I think they'd actually be better off by signing those 2 than Tanaka. Less years, probably adds wins to the team, doubt it'd cost much more towards the luxury tax.
