  1. Tom, Theo and Jed took a course. They aren't my commanding officers. I am not obliged to pretend it was a good decision or withhold criticism. You're still acting like they CHOSE this. PTR "may" have, Jed and Theo had no choice. And just once, because Kyle has certainly obliged, lets actually here what YOU would have done differently. Tried. Nope. Kyle did. SSR did. You haven't. Oh, that's your response. Perfect. Thanks for YOUR hot take.

  3. Everything is [expletive], based on the fact that this team is still [expletive] many years after regime change and is not anywhere close to being good. My post was about the pathetic insistence on the apologists to place all the blame for the current state of affairs on people not currently affiliated with the Cubs and grossly exaggerating the lack of young talent that was here pre-Theo. Why do you get so upset with fans who aren't happy with a bad team? No one is HAPPY. But we've taken a course and its where we're at. It may work, it may not. But poking holes in 20 year olds is stupid,(a month into a season) when there are plenty of other things to talk about. I can only talk about Bijan Redemacher for so long. You're looking for the opposite of the Louis CK bit. Everything's [expletive] and everyone should be ecstatic because it's THE PLAN We're poor. I have no idea if any of this winds up working. I'm not ecstatic, by any stretch. But it's where we're at. How can anyone be. If you want to try and find a trade involving Javy, Almora, or anyone else-Fine. I'm not opposed to that. I'm all for making this [expletive] better.
  4. Hot take. At least Kyle brings a full argument. Yours has been spend money. You and your pet volleyball is all that's left on that island . As kyle indicated, I do not think you understand a word of what has been discussed on this page. And your pathetic personal attacks should draw a ban. Please. I've been called "weirdo" by you. I'm pointing out a fact-you have never acted like the debt stuff has any merit whatsoever. Touchy for you, perhaps?

  7. [expletive]. No one knows what's going to happen. And a month into a season, it's [expletive] stupid to start up with everything is [expletive], based on 20 and 21 year olds lack of success so far.
  8. Kyle and Goony look at minor leaguers, look at the lack of major league success at the moment, and basically have decided that projection is evil. To fit their attempt at hating on everything Cub-related. Both certainly know much more than anyone else ever involved in the game of baseball. Please Theo, take THEIR advice and no one else's. Your perceived success in the game pails in comparison to their ultimate wisdom of knowing everything.
  9. Kyle's running out of legit arguments to start, so now he's just starting [expletive] stupid ones. Sorry Kyle, do you get paid to write about prospects? Do you know a bunch of scouts? Are you a scout? No? Guess what then? Me and everyone else will continue to laugh at you and listen to them.
  10. My guess is Soler was an omission and Almora(6th pick) was "earned" by the previous regime.
  11. BA top 10 Theo inherited 1 Brett Jackson 2 Javy 3 Matt Szczur 4 Trey McNutt 5 Dillon Maples 6 Welington Castillo 7 Rafael Dolis 8 Junior Lake 9 Josh Vitters 10 Dan Vogelbach Javy, Vogelbach, and Maples had just been drafted. BA was always higher on Szczur than anyone else. McNutt's stock had fallen a bunch. Lake was toolsy as hell, no idea what he'd turn into. Vitters was already well into his descent. Dolis was a reliever. The only legit trade piece was Brett Jackson. And Castillo was considered a backup to Soto, but a necessity to stick, as we had nothing else. So, you're telling me that's the makings of a solid system? There was Brett Jackson and very little else to trade from.
  12. One, I seriously doubt the Marlins decide to add a guy that's only going to be there for half a season at best, pitching WITH Fernandez. While paying a big price. Two, without Heaney, they don't have anything remotely appealing enough to entice the Cubs. At least not unless they included a ML rotation piece. Which truly defeats their purpose on every level.
  13. The thread? Or in baseball? Both?(my vote)
  14. According to ESPN the DR passport is fake. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10927805/top-cuban-alfredo-despaigne-mexico-false-passport. So he's still going to need to establish residency somewhere. Maybe I'm missing something obvious about the rules for political refugees, but at 28 (since he wouldn't be subject to the draft), can't he pretty much just come straight here? He doesn't have to play in the Mexican League, but the whole OFAC blocking stuff isn't something I'm very familiar with. I do know they have to establish residence SOMEWHERE, other than the US. And that takes 6 months at a minimum, it seems like. Depending largely on how familiar their representation is with the process.
  15. It's the first time he's really faced adversity. His way eventually won out after initially struggling at other stops. He's going to need to make adjustments. He's bullheaded, in all likelihood, so who knows when that'll happen. But it will. I do trust this FO in their developmental process.
  16. Javy needs to turn things around dramatically in order to get a late season call up. I'm not worried about him struggling as a 21 year old in AAA. But if we have any hope for 2015, he needs to turn it around fairly quick. Otherwise, SSR is completely right-neither him or KB will be on the Opening Day roster next year. Personally, I don't see KB coming up, even without any hiccups, until we save an extra control year, unless Javy gets it together soon. Otherwise, it'll be next year after the cut off date. Getting a guy like Despaigne would help move the timeline a bit. But, I don't expect a Scherzer type move. Maybe Masterson, but at the expense of trading Shark. With the money coming off, I can see a Masterson and Despaigne type offseason. Or something similar anyway. We've got plenty of flexibility moving forward, but I'm not seeing 2015 as the season we "go for it" per se. I'm not saying this to get flamed or to argue over The Plan, I'm saying it because its what I expect, based off the current state of the team.
  17. Ferguson and O'Donnell now signed. Fuller and Sutton is all that's left.
  18. Badler just had a Twitter exchange with Enrique Rojas and seems pretty convinced something is going to happen here. If it does.....He's a [expletive] must get. Not only does he play a position of need, the Dodgers and Yankees don't have a real need, so they won't be bidding ungodly amounts for him. We saved money-this would be a perfect way to spend it.
  19. i think Olt's OBP will come up. and the fact that he hits home runs greatly helps our chances of winning games. In the games he actually hits homeruns, sure. The fact that he only hits homeruns but makes a ton of outs doesn't help them win many games. He has good discipline and will take walks. The OBP is coming up now. He'll have a 10% walk rate soon enough. He may hit between .200-.220, but the OBP will be fine. Whatever you theorize it "will be", it is .257 and that is terrible and that is a part of the reason the team OBP is only .300 and is part of the reason why they've lost so many games. You're right. Quit playing him.

  21. Is it legitimately possible that he can't find representation for this? I'm thinking it is. There may not be a firm willing to associate themselves with that guy.
