  1. I've got them around 180ish after everything, not including Maeda's incentives, or in season moves. I guess its possible they can be paying Kemp MORE than just the 20 AAV his contract calls for though, since they're paying the Braves and Padres 8 mill combined for him too. No idea if that counts on top of his AAV hit or not. They'll pay Maeda some incentives, assuming he stays healthy, but he needs to start 32 games and pitch 200 innings, to make 10 mill in incentives. If he starts 25 games and pitches 160 innings, his incentives are just 5.50 mill. And if I chose 24 starts, it'd drop to 4 mill. At any rate, they need to realistically move Grandal and Ryu for minimum salary guys, to give themselves 20 mill to throw at Yu and have anything left to spend at mid season. Their other option is to package prospects with Kemp, to get someone to take his contract. To me, that sounds more realistic for them.
  2. you really don't think Boogie is getting a max? guys of his skill set don't grow on trees. even with an Achilles injury and possibly missing 1-2 months to start next season, I think he's absolutely still getting a max deal. and I'll go as far to say as I hope it's the Bulls that give it to him, even though I'm sure that's probably not going to happen. Man, I don't know. An ACL to big guys is fairly rare. There's not that many teams with cap space. I'm just not sure. I think he might have to settle for a bit less personally.
  3. That idiot isn't right about anything. He just takes reported info and adds a bit to things. He's played different cards in the same hand for a damn month. He's an ABTY clone. Hell, maybe he is ABTY.
  4. Davis is supposedly Ainge's wet dream. They have more ammo than anyone too. Cousins is truly an interesting case at this point. He's one of my favorite players. But, what do you give him? Its rare for a big guy to go down with an ACL to begin with. Plus, he's not exactly known for being a hard worker. He seemed to like New Orleans, I figured he was set. But now, he ain't getting a max. So, I'd say he's in play for anyone. If you're the Bulls, do you roll the dice on him? Some team is going to, maybe even up to 4/100 or so. Do you take that risk? Or do you wait for something else? As a guy who doesn't think you're going to lure the big FA here, I think Cousins situation allows the Bulls to have a serious shot. I'd do it, then hope whatever you draft this year, plus the other youngsters pan out and you contend in 2 years or so.
  5. I know I'm going to shift my pants when they trade for Odorizzi now.
  6. You gonna like the Bulls a little bit, if they get Trae?
  7. Has one of you guys put Navin's post there yet?
  8. Thats why I said a " true either/or". If it WAS, I'd tank to make sure I'm top 6(or 7 possibly). There's a true dropoff after that area. And I'd take the chance on that, rather than counting on a pick in the20's, that's 50/50 to even turn into a rotation piece. I do think 6 is very obtainable. Maybe even 4, if you can move Niko, Lopez, and Holiday all before the deadline. The Hawks, Kings, and Magic aren't catchable. Everyone else is. But, with the schedule being easy, you've got to move more than just Niko. And Lopez or Holiday aren't bringing back anything truly helpful, so might as well move them and not worry too much about the return. Because the value IS more losses, by them not being around. And they're replaceable. Its a win-win.
  9. Honestly, if its a true either/or? I'll expedite the tank. You're going to be lucky to get more than a top 20 pick for Niko. The others will bring even less. Those pieces aren't LIKELY to wind up becoming much for us, in all honesty. But, if you assured me that we'd pick top 6 by dealing(or even giving them away)them now? I'd do it. Because getting one of that group(I'm almost ready to add JJJ to this and make it 7) is far more important, than the return on our vets. Niko ought to bring a 1st of some sort, but I keep thinking its going to be a 25-30ish pick. Like what Lou Williams got the Lakers. You can likely get a top 50 pick for Holiday. You can possibly unload the Lopez contract. And there's probably going to be a team in need of a roster spot or two, that we can use the TPE(or some of it) on.
  10. figured davell would be interested in this Yeah, I had it at 32 and some change, but the in season moves and callups are included in that figure. But, I'm using 15 mill for insurances, which IS a bit higher than any figure I've seen. Most figures I've seen are between 10-13 mill. We can fit Yu in. My guess is it'd leave 7-10 mill to spend at mid season. Which is plenty. Hell, it could be enough for Darvish and Yelich. Which would be a ridiculous off season.
  11. Up 17 with under 5 to go and lose? Yes. All day. Lauri has so much more to his game than what people were thinking. Gotta get rid of Niko, Lopez, Holiday, and Grant. They keep us in too many damn games.
  12. Wow. I like it. Makes it easier to bring DSL guys up. And allows for more cheap signings down there too, as it indirectly opens up more playing time, in numerous spots.
  13. Second set of tests say he's got a concussion evidently.
  14. I agree, its gotta be Jake. The only other possibilities to me are Holland or Moustakas. And it'd be hard to see a 3B sit out, waiting for an injury to happen.
  15. My sources are common sense. And that dude is pretty high on my "hate follow" list at this point. He's gotta have a punchable horsefeathering face.
  16. So what are we looking at here? He was supposedly down to 6 teams.....Yankees, Cubs, Twins, Astros, Rangers, and someone else. Many who think its the Dodgers..... Well, the Rangers have came out and said they don't see themselves making a splashy move at this stage. The Astros traded for Cole. They're out. The Yankees have 21-22 mill to spend up against the LT. But, do they want to go into the year with Andujar at 3B or Torreyes at 2B? Maybe even Gleyber? With the glut of OFers on the market, why would a team pay anything for Ellsbury? Can they free up another 4-5 mill? Sure. But, that's it, unless they want to trade Robertson. And again, the 21-22 mill needs to account for callups and in season moves too....... The Twins? Sure, they've got a need and money ton spend. Cubs? I think we've answered this. Dodgers? No chance they can stay under the LT. If its the Cards, I'd say they've got other holes to fill too and may look towards a slightly less expensive option. So, it looks to me that we're in a stalemate with the damn Twins. And Yu probably prefers New York, but they can't find the money to get it done.
  17. I think there is a rule against this now. I kind of wondered about that. Still, they could send Rudy Gay(expiring), who's out for a few more were, plus a scrub or two, and still be set up as the team we wouldn't need to take long term money back on.
  18. Kawhi is out indefinitely, Gay is out thru January and the Spurs have the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA. Parker is an expiring and we could buy him out and he could even go back there, I guess..... But, Parker and their 1st for Mirotic and Zipser seems like something that ought to be talked about immediately.
  19. I was hoping Niko would be gone on the 15th. But, maybe the offers aren't there yet? No idea what to think about taking on longterm money in a Niko deal or not, at this point. You have to weigh that and whatever added value to the pick you'd be getting, versus having the cap space to add FA's next year, which may actually be worth looking in to. I think I'd prefer just moving him for a pick, no long term money attached, but after looking thru teams, I'm not even seeing a deal like that available. Lopez? I'd let him go for just the cap space. But again, I don't see a deal like that out there. And in his case, I wouldn't think teams are clamoring him now. He's a guy you can wait on until February 7th or 8th for, due to a very limited market.
  20. So, where do we stand? That's my only concern..... C Contreras-.6, Caratini-.6 1B Rizzo- 5.857 2B Baez-.6, La Stella- .950 SS Russell-3.2 3B Bryant-10.85 LF Schwarber-.6 CF Almora-.6, Happ-.6 RF Heyward-23, Zobrist-14 Total-61.457(Position Players) SP- Lester-25.833, Quintana-4.2, Hendricks-4.175, Chatwood-12.667, Smyly-5 Total-51.875(Rotation) RP- Morrow-10.5, Cishek-6.5, Duensing-3.5, Strop-5.925, Wilson-4.25, Grimm-2.338(midpoint), Montgomery-.6, Edwards-.6 Total-34.213(Pen) Total-147.545 147.545+ 2.25(40 man)+ 15(insurances) 164.770 197-164.770=32.230 32.230 Left to Spend, counting in season callups, and trades Is that enough for Darvish at a 25 AAV? Yeah, I guess so. But, it does mean zero position player additions. Which, I'm fine with. Just not sure if the FO is...Backup C, maybe a backup OF? To get Darvish, it basically means at the trade deadline, we'd be going after guys that aren't making a lot of money.
  21. 7 years seems a little much but under the right deal (like 6/135-140 I could live with it if there’s opt outs and front load it with with like $30mil first 2-3 years) I’d be able to live with that. The AAV is a relative steal at that and with front loading it hopefully he pitches good enough in years 2-3 he opts out (after getting about 2/60-3/90) and you aren’t stuck with like 3/80 on the backside. Yeah, you'd want to structure it to where its enticing for him to opt out. 7 may be too many, but I'd be perfectly fine at 6.
  22. It makes perfect sense for a major market team to give him a 6 or 7 year offer. It keeps the AAV down, for LT purposes and you can litter it with opt outs, to where he may take another shot at FA anyway. And the back end of the deal will happen during the next CBA, which will likely see a dramatic jump up in the LT, if he doesn't opt out anyway.
  23. Potenetial QB needy teams CLE (two picks) NYG DEN NYJ ------- MIA ARI BUF JAX 1st round possible QBs. Rosen, Jackson, Darnold, Rudolph. Maybe Alen ,but that seems a stretch. So we basically want three of those to go by the time of the Jets pick, and we want Miami to be perceived as a real threat as there's only 4 slots between them and the Jets. Cousins leaving WAS and making them another relative threat would be nice too... though perhaps not if it takes one of the top 4 put of the QB race. Obviously they can explore non QB trade downs too, it just won't likely be mega packages. Allen is definitely a 1st rounder. Mayfield probably is too. Don't think Randolph is.
