  1. I kind of expect us to just add nominal pieces this year. A pen arm and a back end guy, to help with the back half. Since we don't have many days off.
  2. I just wish someone would have asked him why he didn't call a TO, so we would have gotten Clark Griswolds look when he forgot the chain saw.
  3. Hard to say. Alzolay is in some people's eyes and I can see why. Amaya being in A Ball hurts his cause with some probably. But, he is the top guy for me. Those are the only 2 in the conversation though currently.
  4. I like Groshans more than Seigler personally. But, I was more excited about Denaburg than either. If we do go hitting at 24 and its HS, I think I may like Edwards and Schnell as much or more than Groshans at this point too.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] LOL
  6. Lange goes 5 5 0 0 1 5, on 79 pitches. Solid obviously, figured he'd go 1 more though. At any rate, he seems to be finding his groove at this point. Clifton went 6 3 0 0 0 5.
  7. I'm at least borderline hopeful that this is just to give him a bit of a rest and we're employing the DL like the Dodgers have done recently.
  8. Kiley's chat has a ton of info. Including saying our top decision makers were at Densburg's last start. He pitched well. It was against Casas actually.
  9. The Bryan Colangelo stuff is nuts.
  10. Please let it be he's taking Chatwoods next turn.
  11. Was Connor that high out of the prep ranks? I really don't recall, tbh. I knew he was good, but with Nathan Kirby having turned down the draft, Connor sort of always got stacked behind him. I will say this, if UVA, and their coaches have done a fantastic job since they've gotten there, screw with Vasil's delivery, that's just stupid. It looks ... from what I've seen, clean enough that it shouldn't be an issue. Jones was a top 30-50 guy. I think he was higher ranked than Kirby. I know he was mocked in numerous 1sts.
  12. The K/9 rate is over 7. He's still just 23 years old. Wasn't expecting this out of him this year.
  13. The bottom line is they've got a fairly negative perception attached to them, when it comes to pitching. No idea how much Vasil could have gotten from a team at this EXACT point, but I'd get at worst it was in the 1.5 range. And if teams were satisfied with the medicals, he could've gotten 3 from some team. At any rate, I think it's bad advice to turn down that kind of money. Especially as a pitcher. You can always goto college later. You're no where close to guaranteed to see that kind of bonus again. I think Jones held out for 3 mill and wound up getting 2nd Round money when he finally left. Hopefully Vasil isn't making the same mistake.
  14. Underwood goes 7 4 2 2 0 3, 10/6 GB/FB ratio.....
  15. Oh well, one less guy that could have been available as an over slot after the first.....
  16. The Pads are taking on 7.2M next year of Hughes deal. Insinuating that's their evaluations on what 800K in Draft Budget is worth.....
  17. ODLC goes 7 5 0 0 0 7 with a 6/2 GB/FB ratio.....
  18. You saw that idiot Charles the Cat trying to suggest this, didn't you? I did not. I think I saw Clapp retweet the trade during the game today. Just the first spot my mind went with the IFA money talk this week since it’s not like he was getting traded for much and I didn’t know where the Rangers were at penalty wise or that it was too early to do trades for our purposes like TT pointed out. Ah, ok. I seriously hope we find the 2-2.5 mill it's going to take for Rodriguez..... That'd give us 2 guys from the IFA group that have TOR potential. It makes it even more palatable to concentrate on bats in the draft too.
  19. You saw that idiot Charles the Cat trying to suggest this, didn't you?
  20. Our 1st round slot is 2.724 mill. Pick 36 is where slot falls under 2 Mill. If we're getting a discount down to 2 mill total, it conceivably comes from a guy thinking he falls to 36 or later.
  21. I like Hannah a bunch. If we were going to under slot a college guy in the 1st, I think he's my top choice.
  22. Guys, I want Heyward gone just as much as everyone else (if not more), but he has a no-trade clause in his contract. I believe after this season it becomes a limited NTC so the window to trade him opens up this offseason. I don't think there is any possible way to get Heyward to waive his NTC to go to horsefeathering Baltimore of all places... Sorry about killing the dream. Yeah. It's only 12 teams that he can block a trade to in the offseason. And maybe he'll even want a change of scenery... the media and fans are unlikely to get any kinder with him the longer this goes on (though there are obviously so many factors at play with this, like his family/happiness in Chicago). 12 teams is a TON. If he's trying to stay put, he can pick 12 and basically make it impossible for us to move him..... Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Nats, Cards, Brewers, Giants, White Sox, and Astros are either too close to the LT and wouldn't go over for him, or wouldn't help us out in ANY scenario, due to being rivals...... The Rays aren't taking on that much salary, even if you give them other things. The Indians aren't going to scrap things and rebuild this quickly, there's better uses of 23 mill for them, than prospects. The Twins have CF and RF covered with youngsters. The Angels have Trout and Calhoun. The Marlins are in the same boat as the Rays, just ain't happening. The Mets aren't taking him on either, for any number of reasons already listed for others..... The Orioles? Angelos doing something like that literally seems as far fetched as Javy leading the league in walks.... That's 17 teams right there that he does NOT need to put on his no trade list..... Put it on the other 12 and he's safe. He is not leaving here unless he's miserable and WANTS out. And even then, there's a ridiculous amount of hurdles to clear.......
  23. Hoerner seems like a very safe pick. But, also a guy you save on and spend big on a HS kid in the 2nd. I can see weighing HS kid in the 1st, with college bat in the 2nd, versus the opposite..... And I can see where your take the college bat first, due to a larger dropoff. There's plenty of HS arms, not as many bats that seem likely to be there in the 2nd...... Hoerner or someone else for 2 mill, allows you to spend 1.7 on your 2nd, without even going into the overage or the 7-10 Round seniors......
