  1. He's performed well, but I think at some point in the playoffs, Lackey is going to make us like him. As for unsung guys, I'm really leaning towards Coghlan.
  2. We really need to keep him in the organization.
  3. Craig, Marquez has size(6'4) and low 90's velo as a 17 year old and was considered the top 16 year old lefty at the time of signing. He's definitely a guy to dream on. If there are good reports on him at Instructs, I may throw him in the back of my top 30. Carrera has pitchibility. Who knows what becomes of him and if he can make a jump, get bigger, etc.....Or just wind up as the next Jeffry Antigua. Yunior Perez hits 95, by the way. He's 6'5 or so too. But he's wild and literally has nothing but a straight FB currently. But still, he's a guy with some ingredients.
  4. Steele is 91-93, supposedly very athletic too. For a lefty, there's still plenty of upside there, even a bit of time too. The results sucked this year, but he's the guy I'd personally peg to break out next year.(if we're not going with usual suspects) I'm not sure if I'd say we're not good at scouting pitching or not. There's not THAT many guys that really break out that weren't 1st rounders. And if we count Cease as a hit or close to it, it gives them a bit of success. Hell, Johnson and Underwood have hit top 100 lists, to where we had a bit of time to sell high on.(after all, they're pitchers) At any rate, my guess is if they have a relatively decent sized draft budget and spend the bulk of it on pitching, their hit rate would be pretty decent. But we won't know this until or unless it happens.
  5. Identifying top 10 picks is one thing. You're not going to find bats with big upside where we'll be picking. There will be big upside arms around though, possibly even a top 10 caliber type that's fallen for one reason or another.
  6. The Dodgers look really good on paper at this point. Kershaw, Hill, and Maeda match up as well as anyone's top 3. Probably a bit better even. And their lineup has hit very well in the second half too. Not saying they should be favored over us, but I can definitely see the argument. I'll be pulling for Washington against them for sure.
  7. I kind of suspect we'll go over slot on a TJS guy that was a top 10 type talent or someone who just wants a lot more than slot, in general, that's fallen due to demands. I'd be OK with taking pitching at both spots too. Even taking senior college guys in 6 or 7-10, to give us more up front money.
  8. Adam Wainwright has 18 RBI in 65 PA this year. Which is one more RBI than Billy Hamilton has, in 460 PA.
  9. List of DSL guys, from AZPhil..... P Faustino Carrara, Hector Garcia, Alfredo Colorado, Brailyn Marquez, Farlis Guerrero, Yunior Perez, Carlos Ocampo, Eury Ramos C Miguel Amaya INF Aramis Ademan, Jonathan Perlaza, Luis Diaz, Rafael Narea, Christopher Morel OF Jose Gutierrez, Jonathan Sierra, Fernando Keli, Abraham Rodriguez
  10. I would trade Hayward for a Sosa and Boggs baseball card.
  11. Its too early to re-blow it up, is the unfortunate truth. Pace kind of just did that. Just in a slow White Soxish way, instead of setting a torch to it, like Theo. For continuity alone, you kind of need to let Pace see this shitfest through. If for no other reason than it could scare off potential good hires next go round, if they think going in, that their leash is THIS short. After Emery, it'd suck to can another guy this fast. I really wanted to give Pace the benefit of the doubt. Hell, let him fire Fox. I don't care. But Goony is 1000% right. He's not a good drafter. And we definitively need that. I guess I'd give him a 3rd year, but I'd expect to suck next year too. With the slight hope of hitting on a top 5 pick this upcoming draft and letting the new guy make the following one. To me, the only silver lining is that if you bring in the right group, there's really no such thing as a rebuild in the NFL. If Pace were good, we'd be a true playoff contender right now. We aren't, and he isn't. Time to sell off what we can and I really wish it'd be for 2018 picks, since I don't see us firing Pace until then.
  12. For as flat out awful as he's been, its going to take much, much more than 4 games to think he's coming around. I do kind of suspect he'll hit well in the playoffs though. Hopefully, he can fix himself somewhat in the off season, to where he may be able to get back to being a solid hitter consistently.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] This needs to be brought up.
  14. I didn't consider it mediocre. I kind of figured Fox would "coach them up" to 7 wins or so. But I think mediocre is too nice of a term for the true overall talent level.
  15. Is that not posted anywhere on here? If it is, my apologies. But its phenomenal.
  16. Can't trade a franchise tag player Is that true? If so, I can't find it anywhere. I thought they could.
  17. What could you get for Alshon?
  18. There always are. My guess is we'll get Perlaza, Ademan, Sierra, Amaya, Marquez, Carrera, Gutierrez, and Diaz from the last group of signings and Cuevas, Guerrero, Garcia off the DSL2 team that have multiple years down there. Probably Narea and Rosario from DSL1. Obviously, not all will stick. There's going to be a battle for the Arizona Middle Infield spots between Ademan, Perlaza, Narea, and Diaz. Someone, maybe 2, will wind up spending an extra year in the DSL.
  19. We very likely received one dollar from the Braves for this. Keith Law mentioned a while back that stuff happens a lot. Collmenter just beat the Nats today. So Theo, still finding new ways to be brilliant, just bought us a win closer to HFA for a buck. He's good.
  20. Coghlan over Seal Boy based on walk up music.
  21. When all our hitting gets even better next year and other teams truly start to understand what we've got.....The misery porn is going to be awesome. It may be the biggest thread we've got going next season.
  22. With Schwarber back next year and Contreras up all year I'd say 400 PAs is pushing the upper limits of what Javy should be getting next season with where he stands right now offensively. I'm OK with that too. The bottom line is its up to him to increase his playing time.
  23. Javy isn't going anywhere. He's a solid player now, still improving, and likely won't be a starter here until 2018 or 2019, if Zobrist falls off a cliff. If he puts himself in a spot where he NEEDS to be in everyday, all the better. As it stands, giving him 400-500 AB's as a utility guy works out great.
