Even if you don't know who Luis Severino is, do you want to know more about his stuff, how he tends to use his offspeed pitches, where he's struggled, etc. or 15 mins on the fact that he's 23 and that this is his first playoff start? They're details any broadcaster could share, not something I need a color commentator -- who is supposed to be an expert -- to explain. The best color commentators in other sports find a way to not do this all the time, even on national broadcasts. I've never had an issue with this sort of thing...my "triggers" have more to do with meatbally antiquated thinking. i.e. "defense wins championships" in every sport, "jumpshooting teams will never win" in the NBA, citing small sample situational stats like the mean anything in baseball, ground and pound in the NFL, etc. and when they lament how these games have evolved..."in our day blah blah blah." Yeah, that's also incredibly annoying.
