  1. Because our fans don’t turn our stadium into a morgue when things go wrong these days. And theirs do.
  2. I’m a little annoyed that Zo couldn’t manage more than a 2 in vert there but whatever.
  3. Time to completely rip their hearts out when we come back.
  4. Oh that horsefeathers was pimped as horsefeathers. Eat it, Gio.
  5. We’re going to burn Gio’s career into the ground tonight with a dong barrage.
  6. Northwestern losing big but going to single handedly prevent Barkley from winning the Heisman.
  7. wasn't that fox Yes -- it's also been reported that Keith Hernandez is taking Rose's spot. Really enjoyed listening to Arod last season. It didn't hurt that I was exclusively listening to him analyze victories since All We Do Is Win.
  8. Of course there is no silver bullet, which I acknowledged, but Gruden and now, Romo, come to mind as guys who actually break down plays. Hubie Brown often talks technique and strategy. Van Gundy is incredibly opinionated and ranty but spends more time talking about the game than mindless drivel. I admittedly don't watch hockey. Romo spent 15 minutes last game insisting a player touched a ball when the replays continually showed the player didn't touch the ball. He's not really breaking down plays in my opinion. He's saying things like, they're going to run to the left here, but that's not really analysis. Gruden just yells and emotes and somehow praises every single QB all the time. THIS GUY GETS IT. Gruden plays an incredibly active role in the shots he wants the production crew to home in on during broadcasts based on film he watches beforehand. He’s does some meatbally stuff by he’s more than you described. Romo adds more value than any national MLB commentator and its not close, replay error notwithstanding.
  9. Even if you don't know who Luis Severino is, do you want to know more about his stuff, how he tends to use his offspeed pitches, where he's struggled, etc. or 15 mins on the fact that he's 23 and that this is his first playoff start? They're details any broadcaster could share, not something I need a color commentator -- who is supposed to be an expert -- to explain. The best color commentators in other sports find a way to not do this all the time, even on national broadcasts. I've never had an issue with this sort of thing...my "triggers" have more to do with meatbally antiquated thinking. i.e. "defense wins championships" in every sport, "jumpshooting teams will never win" in the NBA, citing small sample situational stats like the mean anything in baseball, ground and pound in the NFL, etc. and when they lament how these games have evolved..."in our day blah blah blah." Yeah, that's also incredibly annoying.
  10. Who are these color commentators? Every single NFL broadcast is a national broadcast and every single one touches on the superficial surface stories of every player. Hockey announcers don't have time to break down much in the way of detailed analysis, considering the pace of play. I can't speak to basketball but I doubt national broadcasters get much beyond the bios of these guys when talking about them. 11. I know maybe 6 guys on arizona and colorado combined, and maybe 1 Twin. I'm also blissfully unaware of a good half of the Yankees squad despite being surrounded by Yankees fans. The majority of viewers don't know who the hell these players are. Even if you don't know who Luis Severino is, do you want to know more about his stuff, how he tends to use his offspeed pitches, where he's struggled, etc. or 15 mins on the fact that he's 23 and that this is his first playoff start? 12. There is justifiable reason for this for national broadcasts. Especially come playoff time. Yes, but it doesn't make the broadcast enjoyable for a big baseball fan, which is what we all are.
  13. Let's be real: they all suck. Mendoza is the among the best of them but also has many of the same lumps -- acting like no one in the viewing audience knows who the hell these players are, using the same 2-3 words excessively due to a limited vocabulary, taking a long time to explain a simple process in order to fill airtime.
  14. Wow I'm pretty surprised he was good at football in hs.
  15. How could you make a Dick Stockton post and use real names? Rodrigo Ramirez and Adolfo Soriano I was just going off of what I'd heard from others... I was at the Glow-in-the-Dark tour for all of those games.
  16. At least it's not Dick Stockton. *Slow roller hit to Aramis Ramirez* "And it's hit to Lee. Lee... Lee... LEE!"
  17. You're a big ol' baby. Nothing could ruin that.
