  1. Just thought i'd throw this out there. I asked a buddy of mine who sees alot more Vandy games than any of us who Flaherty reminded him of, and he said he thinks he will be alot like Carlos Guillen. He said concerns of him having to move off of SS are overblown, and that while he may not have amazing range or anything it's more than acceptable. He said he'll have no problem making the routine plays.
  2. Let's go EPatt! Wasn't he hitting like .320+ in Iowa this year? I like it. I know it's the PCL blah blah blah, but at least he's not in a slump.
  3. Read this on PDS forums: Can anyone find this article?
  4. I like the CC mention more than anything. Let's hope that becomes a regular occurence.
  5. Not a neccessity, but he's a damn good player.
  6. Obviously a fat chance Sonny signs, but as previously mentioned, why not try.?It's one thing to talk about this all of this money in principal with your family, but when you actually have a letter in front of you saying sign here and ___ million $ is yours, it's a little tougher to turn down. Still not likely, but it's worth trying once rather than picking another 5'5 infielder from ____ community college of art and design.
  7. From an article yesterday: http://www.dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080605/SPORTS/806050333
  8. Wow, I left not expecting anything big, and they we go and pop Sonny Gray. I'll try and not get my hopes up, but I would go bezerk if we signed him. IMO he's a Jarrod Parker clone. Outstanding makeup as well. Sonny was our consensus pick at #19 when we did the mock draft a few months ago. Cubs, please shell out some fat cash for him. Whoever was here that said he knows Sonny, please call him and beg him to sign. Tell him he'll have is own fan club here.
  9. I was referring more to his IsoP. When you hit .423, you're SLG is gonna be up there. True.
  10. He did slug .675, I don't know if it's fair to say he has no power. Isn't he a 5th year senior or something? He's 22 going on 23 soon, though.
  11. Another good pick. I'd rather take guys with low 90's FB's and plus curves who struggle with command than the typical 88mph college lefty who won't walk anyone.
  12. Him and Cashner, who may very well be a SP in our system. Cashner definately hsan't had the normal developmental progress of normal kids his age, growing so much so recently and finally start to settle into his body. 98 mph heater with a nasty slider is nice, and he has great mechanics like Wilson said. Not bad on the Wilson pick from what I can gather, I like these gambles. I'd wager at least one of these guys who fell due to injury can return back to their high round form (though in Carpenters case it appears he already had last year).
  13. We just got that judge from American Idol...
  14. Don't know much on him, but the tools sound nice. Good arm, should be able to stay behind the plate, good raw power, good eye. Not bad.
  15. Names that i'd be on: Alex Meyer, P- Top pitching guy left, late 1st round talent. Will probably be tough sign. Brett Hunter- 1st rounder coming into this year, injury problems and crazy delivery have dropped him. Sonny Gray- Absoltely love him, but he's not signing, so forget about it. Zach Cox (going more off a BA than me here)- Really good hitter, iffy athleticism. Harold Martinez SS- No idea why he's still here, but I have to assume he might have told teams he wants to go to college or something. He was a top 10 pick coming into the season, and the main reason why people have said he dropped was because of a subpar season, but looking at his stats I remembered them being pretty damn good, so he's an intersting case. Might have to move to third, but would be awesome if he could stay at short. Taylor Jungmann- My personal sleeper. Great frame, great fastball, potential for nasty offspeed pitch. Michale Pallazone (sp?)- It wasn't too long ago that he was considered right around Gray's area. Solid low 90's fastball, very good offspeed curve.
  16. Don with another nice line. 5 IP/3 hits/2 ER/3BB/8K

  18. Heh, here's brewerfan's take on our pick:
  19. I'm not super high on any of the infielders, but there's a legit reason to get somewhat excited about Cashner/Shafer/Carpenter. Shafer was a potential top ten pick the year before, Carpenter dropped because of injuries but was healthy last year and threw in the upper 90's. Not too shabby for the pitching IMO. Wilkin is already hinting they are open to Cashner starting, a high 90's heater and plus slider are a pretty good combo to work with.
  20. Josh Harrison, another short IF it looks like.
