  1. Even though the news that we're longshots for CC is bad news, I feel good knowing that "people" say the Cubs system is highly valued. If San Fran is shopping Cain, I think we'd match up pretty nice with them. They need quantity, and i'm sure a Pie/Gallagher/Cedeno/+ offer could get their attention depending on how they view these guys.
  2. Guys like Hoffpauir and McGahee are nothing more than throw-ins. Pie still has value but it's dropped this year. However, I think a package of something like Vitters, Pie, and Gallagher is quite a package. I know Hoffpauir is 28, but he may have more value than people think. Hes OPSin over 1.000 in AAA, and had some success in his short stint on the big league club. Granted, he wont net us a big name by himself, but I'd be surprised if some scouts arent watching him very closely in the corn fields. I really don't think so.
  3. Shark has a NTC. And newly drafted players can't be traded yet (unless PTNBL), and neither can Vitters unless he's a PTNBL which would be awkward considering he would likely know he's been traded but still have to play in our organization until he can be traded. Throw Gallagher in there as well, even though he's up with the club. And Cedeno, Murton, Hill.

  5. Don't know if this is anything rehashed, but got it from PSD: And quick question, can Vitters be traded yet or do we still have to do the PTBNL thing?

  7. I really doubt we can take on that much salary at this time.
  8. This was the post on PSD the other day that I was talking about with the NY Daily News:
  9. Manuel will take his place. Links all over...too lazy to go back and get one.
  10. This was mentioned in the NY Daily News I hear, but i'm assuming it was more of an idea than rumor.

  12. Well, it's pretty assumed around the league that they won't resign him. Maybe i'm jumping the gun, but I feel pretty confident in saying they won't agree with anything in the neighborhood of what CC's agent wants.
  13. They wouldn't be giving up, and it'd be stupid of them if they pass on prospects who they feel can help them for the next 10 years for a half season push just to make the postseason, let alone get anywhere in it. And even though Lee has come back down to earth a little, he's one extra top of the rotation guy who they didn't even know they had coming into the season.
  14. Well, it said we haven't called about Randy Winn. Maybe we were taking a peak at Cain or somone, though unlikely.
  15. If they feel they can get better prospects than what they will be getting as his draft picks, then yes, they do.
  16. D't think it's been said but Rosentha; re-edited the article saying that we have no interest in Fuentes and went on to mention how good Eyre and Cotts have done. He left the CC part in there though.
  17. He could be a great buy low guy. His stuff is still great and he's likely going to return to normal AJ anytime now. I understand he'd still cost alot, but just not as much as if he's going with a sub 3.00 ERA.
