  1. How has there been no progress? That article seems like more opinion than anything.
  2. So from everything we've head from Towers, he said nothing would be done until after the rule 5, right? And that's tommorrow morning. Anyone know the exact time? So my hope is after the Padres get their rule 5 stuff sorted, we get reports saying a deal is agreed upon tommorrow afternoon or night, and then it is made official the next day after physicals and all that.
  3. Phillips was just on the Hot Stove Report on ESPN2 and mentioned what we already heard, but said that the Phillies guys would be Happ/Carrasco + Donalds and that Pie would also be heading to SD along with Vitters and Marquis.
  4. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1094 Bruce says the Twins are serious about DeRo.
  5. His agent isn't really needed for anything since we know he will waive his no trade already... And we already know that it will be after Thrusday, so... I wouldn't say that. There are some complications that would need to be talked about if an agent's player is traded. I doubt its as simple as saying " He said he's good with being traded to the cubs so just do it if you can, if you need me give me a call." So yeah, i would either take it as the deal is done or the trade has been tabled for later. Also he checked out, not left for lunch. Still, fax machines take care of that stuff in a second. I'm sure all of the trades that come pouring in at the last second of the trading deadline don't require physically meeting with their agents, since some of those deals come to fruition in like 5 minutes.

  7. Bruce on the trade: http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1086#new
  8. Steve Phillips giving us his highly detailed insight.
  9. I'm assuming this is just taken from Levine's blog, but From that elismlbrumors place that's usually crap.
  10. I know it's cherry picking, but a few boxcores from last season: 4 innings/ 6 ER 5 innings/ 4 ER 6 innings/5 ER 4 innings/ 8 ER 5 innings/ 8 ER 7 innings/ 6 ER 5 innings/ 7 ER 5 innings/4 ER 6 innings/ 4 ER 6 innings/ 4 ER 7 innings/5 ER Again, I know it's cherry picking, but it's not like it was only a few games.
  11. All of that to the guy that I was forced to drop in fantasy at the beginning of the season because he would literally give up some of the ugliest statlines you see. Now I know he came on after that, but there were periods where he was giving up like 6 runs a game every few games.
  12. You guys remember that report that said we wanted to take a chance on Hermida but didn't want to just hand him over the full time starting duties? I wonder if they would consider getting both him and Bradley(if they take a Pie+pitcher deal) since they know Bradley is not going to be playing full time RF without getting hurt.
  13. Wow, Levine looks like the guy on the advertisement at the bottom of the site: http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/imgad?id=CNDQyqaSua6KLBCsAhjvATII7aRQ-m76MvU http://assets.espn.go.com/espnradiostations/i/chicago/blog/airstaff_levine143.jpg
  14. Seems like Pie would have to be in that outfielder deal since there's really not much else we would actually need that we could trade him for.
  15. For anyone that cares, this is from you know who at OH:

  18. Garfein updated his blog....same stuff for the most part. http://csnchicago.com/pages/new_landing/?Garfiens-Winter-Meetings-Blog-Peavy-Deal=1&blockID=20047&feedID=661
  19. For those who didn't read all the quotes, this seems like the most important: So basically the next two days seem to be "trade Marquis at all costs!" days.
  20. Haha yeah, I was wondering what he was talking about.
  21. Apparently Garfein said 7 on TV, so maybe the blog was off by 30 mins. Either way, GM's meet the media all the time at the meetings, so it's probably more of the same old.
  22. ugh...it seems like this is falling apart quickly It just seems like it's saying they focused on other things, presumably FA's, today rather than talking more trade.
  23. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/padres/2008/dec/09/day-two-gm-meetings/?padres I assume that means today we talked more with FA's than about trades, right?
  24. Cubs sources stress nothing is imminent. Towers has said that we are a little reluctant at the price tag but he is still optimistic that we eventually will agree on something. Bruce says that the GM's were all in a mandatory conference this morning for awhile so while all of these reports were coming out, the GM's weren't actually talking trades. Don't know if you've seen that the Cubs have talked with Bradley and that he appears to be at the top of our list. That's about it, go to MLBTR if you want to find all of the links for today. Edit: some Phillies sources say that the Orioles aren't likely to be involved, but other reports say that they are still in the 4-way.
