  1. No, but I'm sure it would be one with an option or maybe two with an option. I'm not sure how far along they are in the talks, but I'm told he's definitely their No. 1 choice for OF. Thanks, sounds good. 2 with an option sounds about right to me.
  2. Bruce, have you heard anything particular about the years that we might offer Bradley (or what he's seeking)?
  3. I've warmed up to Lowe, with him being in as good shape as he is and that clean bill of health, despite his age, he looks like a pitcher I would not object to them offering a multi-year deal for. Before I knew about Peavy, Lowe was the guy I wanted. He fits Wrigley about as perfect as can be. However, I read today that he might not be interested in how many years rather than how much per year, which would likely mean he'd be impossible to fit in the budget.

  6. Axelrod is quoted as saying "We'd at least listen" to the Angels.
  7. Jim Hendry strikes again. I'll be so glad in June when it's clear Dempster has regressed, and Peavy is lights out in SD driving his trade value way out of our price range. That'll be awesome. Everything is saying that the Padres were asking for way too much. I really don't think money is the main issue, especially when Kenney went out of his way to say that our "plan" fits the budget (amidst all of the Peavy rumors).

  10. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20081210_Phils_trade_for_catcher__Coste_has_competition.html Nothing new really.
  11. Nothing new, but a few quotes of the Phillies GM in here. http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081210&content_id=3712363&vkey=news_phi&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi
  12. Yeah, it seems the slugging won't ever be where you would like it but if he's batting leadoff, it kind of slightly lessens the importance of that assuming he can still get on at a .350+ish rate.
  13. Wouldn't that imply that he'd have to know if we say "yes" before the 1030 draft?
  14. I like this for the Mets at first glance. Their bullpen killed them last year, so now a Putz/Rodriguez duo definitely is a makor major upgrade, even if it costed a bit much.
  15. Since everything is related to Peavy, we should probably throw this in here: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2008/12/cubs-inquire-ab.html
  16. No, but I did a little search and it seems that the rule 5 is from 1030 AM - 2 PM our (chicago) time.
  17. LOL at us taking on all of this longterm money and Towers hesitating over 2-3 million.
  18. Basically the opposite Chuck just said. It's from Sandy Alderson, Pads CEO: http://www.gaslampball.com/2008/12/10/689132/alderson-peavy-trade-still click link in my link to listen to interview.
