  1. And Pat and Ron couldnt figure out why the IF was not playing shallow to go home...
  2. Fontenot doing everything he can to keep DeRosa out in RF and Kosuke on the bench
  3. So bases loaded because of Howry walks, so you bring in the guy who got sent down earlier this year because he could not throw strikes consistantly...OK, sure, makes sense to me
  4. Unbelievable
  5. Has he missed any starts this year? (Didnt see Keener's post above...I guess he hasnt missed any time, thats really suprising for him)
  6. Eyre looked very effective again tonight for the Phils
  7. Looked like Aram got a real slow jump off of second on the bunt
  8. He misplayed a ball. If it was Kosuke or Theriot or someone everyone would be saying he misplayed it, but since it's Soriano he was hotdogging it. I didnt think he was hotdogging it, but he did not misplay it either. Misplaying implies he went after the ball hard but took a bad route, etc. Soriano looked totally lackadaisical on the play and was looking away when the ball hit his glove. Thats not showboating, but it is 100% lazy.
  9. Wow, not good baseball at all from either team.
  10. Never imagined this could happen. As lethargic as they had been going into the series, I was hoping we could split at the very best. They really showed up and spanked the Brew Crew and sent a message I dont think they will forget the rest of the year. Lets keep it up and get some more breathing room now. Great series!
  11. Really happy we are in a "win now" mode and going for the front of the rotation starter instead of playing it safe with lesser pitchers. Obviously some risk here with injuries (and losing a young talent in Gallagher) but the potential upside is just so great with the 1-2 punch in the playoffs. We are so close this year and I applaud Hendry for really going for it while we have a shot of becoming a very dangerous team. What a great day to be a Cub fan!
  12. Just saw this earlier today: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080707&content_id=3085689&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc According to Muskat, anyway: I had not seen this elsewhere, but forgot about it until I saw your post above. I am sure it's a big deal for him being selected to start at Yankee Stadium, but I am glad he is not rushing back to play in the game. Rest up and get healthy for a big push down the stretch.
  13. That is good to hear. We dont need more middle/end of the rotation guys, if we trade for anything it should only be a #1 or #2. Otherwise keep the young pitching we have now.
  14. All the best JoBo. I always enjoyed watching him pitch, and he seemed like he got the absolute most he could have possibly gotten with his talent. Anyone with his history (plucked out of the Mexican leagues, then 33 saves in 2003 for the Cubs and 36 and 45 the last 2 years) deserves a round of applause. =D>
  15. Double post
  16. Great news, and like IMB said the first we have had in a while about Hill so very exciting. On top of Z's performance last night, even better. I have a question, can Riggins continue to stay/work with Hill if he moves up to Iowa and even to Chicago? I would have to think those delivery changes will take a little while to stick, and he will probably start to revert to his old habits several times along the way. He needs someone to be looking out for that specifically and to be there to help him correct as he goes. For whatever reason Hill seems to be responding to Riggins, so it would be nice if he could stay with him while the delivery changes settle in and become unconcious habit.
  17. Marmol's first pitch was just outside of the strike zone, but the second pitch was probably at least a foot outside. Thanks. I havent been able to watch any games lately, but from everything ive read it seems like he cannot get the slider over lately, so no one is swinging at it and letting it go for a ball. Any major league baseball player can mash against anyone if all they have to do it sit on the fastball (especially ahead in the count). Seems more plausible than tipping pitches, but who knows.
  18. How bad was Marmol missing on his sliders to start the at bat? On Gamecast they looked to be right on the corner and at the knees.
