  1. I love the resiliency of this team. So many times they could have folded, but fought back every single time. I knew it was not going to be easy, but to come back from 3-1 and then have to come back multiple times tonight in game 7...I just have nothing left but love for the team and love for all the die hard Cubs fans. After all these years, we finally made it. I feel like a kid again!!! *Edit And Nov 3rd is my wedding anniversary too, what a great day!
  2. Seems odd to me that he would choose to sign with the Yankees after they just hired Rothschild as their pitching coach. Didn't Prior blame the Cubs for many of his injuries (pitch levels, team doctors and trainers, etc.) and wouldn't that at least translate somewhat into blaming Larry for how he was handled as a Cub?
  3. RIP Ronnie. Thank you for all of your years of love and dedication. You will be missed.
  4. I thought he mentioned the fact that he wanted to come back next year when he was traded. Maybe he would be willing to give a discount of the # of years or $ to be with the Cubs?
  5. Im not sure which of those answers is the worst (basically, I am a front-runner and have no team loyalty) but saying your favorite energy company is BP and your favorite president is Nixon surely will not make you many friends...
  6. I thought he also made the statement when he originally signed the contract. I do not think this is not the first time he has said this was his last contract (now, whether that makes it "true" or not is an entirely different story).
  7. You mean the "Jim Hendry Special"? The same. There has to be another player out there whose on a similarly bad contract, but an all around inferior player that we can trade him for. Yeah but the Milton Bradley for Carlos Silva swap has certainly been a good move. I don't think that is a personnel strategy we should continue to use moving forward. The odds of that working out again are much lower than simply allowing him to stay and pitch in the starting rotation for us.
  8. Astros complete the sweep of the Cards.
  9. Where did this guy learn to speak? Those are some brutal quotations.
  10. Wow, Brenly really doesn't like Aramis. "As usual, Ramirez has trouble starting the double play." Looked to me like he was waiting for someone to cover the bag, not sure where Baker was but Castro ended up accepting the throw.
  11. The Cubs have never been accused of doing the little things well.
  12. Wow, thats not frustrating at all. Cubs: 3 hits=0runs Reds: 1 hit=1 run Fire Quade.
  13. All depends on how they do this postseason. Girardi took heat after 2008 and it will happen again if they finish behind Tampa and/or get knocked out of the playoffs early. I can't understand why a manager can get so much hype for winning with $200 million dollar team with by far the most talent in the league. Personally, this manager talk bores me. This thread isn't even a page long, so people must agree with me. Yeah, you can have a bad manager, but in the end, managers probably matter less in baseball than any other sport. Hey, if the casual baseball fan can understand the thought process behind managing a baseball game and criticize it, it must not be that complicated. I hear what you are saying, but the biggest reason no one is contributing here is because a similar thread has started on the Cubs Discussions forum.
  14. I thought they announced a few different times that Colvin would be starting at 1B tonight? Maybe the experiment wasn't going so well?
  15. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/danpatrick/blog/125221/index.html Does anyone here think Girardi would leave the Yankees to come to Chicago? Why would he leave a perennial contender to come here? His contract is up after this season, is there any indication the Yankees might be looking elsewhere?
  16. All we need is X to get on and then a Koye-BOMB will tie it all up.
  17. Not watching the game, but with our lineup how do you let Aramis beat you?
  18. Complete with hat-tip. Good, he certainly deserves it.
  19. So I assume D Lee got a big ovation from the crowd?
  20. Good Luck D Lee. He was one of my favorites of the last few years. Can you imagine him facing Woody in the Series? That would be fun to watch!
  21. But I thought he was too selfish to allow a trade?
