  1. the contract cost mostly makes it unlikely that the full package they'll require won't end up resembling David's sig as much as some are expecting
  2. owning the strike zone the way he has (15.4% BB: 17.9% K), i've got full faith he's due for a correction sooner rather than later; last year too he started the season with a .630 April OPS to go .830 the rest of the way so Jeimer is still more of a stock: flat guy for me right now
  3. (and he wasn't set to earn $34m a year) 2 top-10 prospects is and was a fairly significant bounty
  4. Albert Almora? I imagine there's quite a few situations where it would make perfect sense. together (with Contreras) still, give me a plausible scenario where it happens...best i can imagine is Soler with a total monster breakout, hitting like 30 HR the rest of the way, but even then i suspect he's the one pushed more in trade talks as a sell-high opportunity (also this isn't plausible, he stinks)
  5. Soler, Almora and Contreras for Trout that still makes absolutely zero sense because i think we can assume Arte doesn't want his own fans to murder him and then shortly afterward perform a posthumous execution
  6. i don't think people fully appreciate that Trout's already making a lot of money and that rightly should/will affect trade bounties i mean, his obligations (5x28, basically) are still a bargain for a player of his level, but i'm not sure that featuring a player like Russell who might be a 5-win player already and makes baseball minimum wage *while* also adding a TON on top of the offer is a thing that real baseball front offices can seriously entertain
  7. ok so situate Heyward in CF, cool now we have a big hole in RF trading Almora and Contreras makes absolutely zero sense, period
  8. holy horsefeathers, did we know this was a thing? http://www.orlandophantomsfootball.com/list/2016-defense/ the DE section is of particular note
  9. did he stop doing yoga
  10. ok so Zunino is catcher Khalil Greene then
  11. The real one where they have two SPs under contract past 2017? When did the Cubs at least hypothetically trading for a SP (and/or pitching in general) become a strange thing to mention? it's strange to mention trading high-floor MLB-ready players at known positions of need next year for a possible position of need two years from now, which has been repeatedly addressed with affordable short-term deals to great effect
  12. why would this only affect one of them? Because one of them has more value tied to being a good defensive player at a premium position. but while Trout may turn into an ordinary CF, then a great corner OF - Harper will descend further down the rank of passability in RF, possibly even toward 1B...so i question that this favors either player
  13. did you not know that we have the best rotation in baseball right now, in what world does this make any sense I (kinda) said this 5 pages ago! http://gif-finder.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Anchorman-2-The-Legend-Continue-Ron-Burgundy-Will-Ferrell-Sorry-Gif.gif
  14. if anybody overtakes Trout (won't happen), it might actually be Machado now that he's at SS
  15. also, just four guys have a higher OBP than Willson Contreras in the PCL: three are 27 or older, and the other plays home games in Albuquerque (where he has a .606 OBP, lol) i think he's a top-20 prospect, currently
  16. it dawned on me the perfect Almora comp: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=12434&position=OF
  17. and it ultimately means no Kris Bryant
  18. this amuses me; DRS has him 8 runs behind Arenado and he's made 2 out-of-zone plays to Nolan's 26(!) but to be fair he's converted nearly everything within his zone, best at the position by far
  19. my waffling on Park, instead opting for Domingo Santana has all but eliminated me already
  20. Carlos Gomez (.182/.238/.248, 0 HR, 35% K, .293 BABIP) is Ian Desmonding his way out of any big FA deal...is this another Andruw Jones age-30 collapse? though, Desmond might now be Fowlering his way into a decent FA recoupment
  21. in terms of "i'm stuck playing these guys specifically at SS for the next 5 years": Bogaerts Lindor Russell Correa Seager edit: there's no right answer; all these guys are godly
  22. so maybe Addi is a 6-win guy already this season
  23. from August-on (including AFL), Diaz had a .348/.411/.634 line with a pretty normal babip (46 G) he might very well be a legitimately good hitter now
