1. please don't get mad at me for this one https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=baker-004dar
2. that one really freaked me out like 8 years ago when he played football at Notre Dame
3. Jed's so spooked by his extension he's vowed to never do another one
4. North Side Bound (NSB2?) said he was at 6 pitches seen per AB which doesn't really make much sense as a stat but if he's in fact working deep counts then the Ks aren't super worrying imo, his swinging strike was like 15% last i looked which is perfectly livable if he's selling out for more XBH
5. maybe an unpopular opinion, but i think the rules should be amended to exclude him from ROY consideration not much point to the award when a seasoned Japanese league Mike Trout comes here in the prime of his career and predictably? kicks ass while other rookies face such a stiffer test comparatively full disclosure, i was personally delighted when Angel Berroa beat out Matsui for the award way back
6. giving this a more serious response, we do seem to have concertedly built an overriding fascination with cultivating pitch movement with our bullpen arms guys that all mostly seemed pretty middling in track record were maybe identified with the thought they could heavily focus on honing at least one plus pitch as the basis for their success, which is working pretty well so far (#2 RP ra9-war)
7. a simple heuristic for me is, "does this current iteration of the Oakland A's lineup still lead MLB in runs scored?" ok still too early to draw any conclusions whatsoever
8. i'm really just saying that "it's good that he's been haplessly floundering, he's supposed to! put your trust in the guys who haven't developed an impactful home-grown regular since Contreras" is a bit of a tough sell, for me
9. Aug-Sept-Apr; 40 K & 5 XBH, yeah he's young so the breaking-him-down narrative can really thrive here
10. hey i don't even care if you want to excuse the plentiful Ks dating back to all last season, but maybe most striking is that Owen Caissie doesn't really seem to know what an XBH is, muscling up a .071 ISO in competitive action covering 3 months we're always expected to believe the coaches are somehow breaking these guys down to build them back up and that's why their in-game efforts look so pathetic, but a far more simple explanation seems likely..
11. starting to think Madigral's .289 expected wOBA was pretty reflective
12. hoping he can become Racine's #2 point of pride
13. kinda rules that there's more Seiya selections than Trout lol
14. hard to recall a more anticlimactic walkoff, pretty awesome finish still
15. well horsefeathers
16. hm that's strange, i thought he already owns the Dolphins..
17. MLB Savant data available for some Minor League Games: How to find it. no statcast data available for first 2 games though, but might be worth monitoring
18. C: Salvador Perez - $200 1B: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - $200 2B: Max Muncy - $150 SS: Bo Bichette - $75 3B: Austin Riley - $100 LF: Eloy Jimenez - $25 CF: George Springer - $75 RF: Juan Soto - $75 DH: Kyle Schwarber - $100 bench selections to come
