that idiot has no courage of his convictions...railing against stat scouting, and doing precisely just that, repeatedly "meh, he's a reliever" ... "WOULDN'T TRADE, UNTOUCHABLE"
for the past month, the Cubs bullpen is 2nd in the NL for fWAR Rondon, Ramirez, Schlitter & Wright all have 10+ appearances with FIPs of 2.28 or better (of the four, only Schlitter is in the twos) it's fair to say it's come together and is serving as a clear strength of the team right now
Over the course of 6 months it is more predictive. Over the course of 1.5 months with 2 huge outlier games it is meaningless. worth noting that both pitchers we bombed (Cingrani, Lyons) were likely pitching injured (both were placed on DL immediately following their starts)
we seem to have cooled on him quite a bit and started focusing more on other options, so i'd imagine the staff is reading between the lines there he's really good, but i would have loved most the novelty of a lefty-shooting PG...don't seem to see many of those
here's a [expletive] taste http://wac.450F.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/nj1015.com/files/2013/05/Collins-CArtoon.jpeg saw that reposted from "Kevin Sorbo Official Facebook Page", lol
Well, he's kind of sucked this year. But yeah, they aren't giving up 6 years of Gray or w/e for a year or so of Samardzija. aside from one disastrous start, he's been awesome: 1.83 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 6.5 H/9, 1.3 BB/9, 8.6 K/9
I don't think that is the case. Bryant can hit anything in the zone. He seems to have better strike zone awareness that Baez (faint praise), but he gets way out in front of breaking balls out of the zone. Bryant's making contact on 78% of pitches in the zone (SL league average is 82%), and he chases at 1 out of 6 balls outside the zone last year at TN, Baez was making contact with 73% of pitches in the zone, and chased at 1 in 5 outside the zone total contact rate favors Bryant, 69.5 vs. last year Baez's 65.5 (league average is 77%)
us making the playoffs within those first two seasons was a near-impossibility, and to pretend otherwise proves you're not even attempting to be remotely objective about things
