  1. justice prevails (we'll still lose)
  2. Aubrey Dawkins: who knew?
  3. no he didn't, he had Rod Marinelli
  4. oWAR includes everything except for defensive rating

  6. hire Shack Harris and Denny Green?
  7. we'd be indisputably far better next year with the trade scenario i mentioned i guess some might not value that as much as others, though
  8. what does letting one flounder and lose all value do? also, why wouldn't we be able to keep Zobrist for longer than a year? is he known to be seeking Cano money the winter before his age 35 season?
  9. if even our bad prospects are all prime talent enough that we can't be bothered to move one for a consistent 5-win player, then we've quite seriously got a clear dynasty in the makings
  10. he's not, i probably wouldn't trade Russell for Zobrist; i was more saying i would anticipate they'd ask for either player as a centerpiece to a swap for the last 4 seasons, Zobrist is 7th in (hitter) fWAR in all of baseball for the last 3 seasons: 7th for the last 2 seasons: 7th for the last 1 seasons: 13th to whoever said he's on the decline, he hit above his career average this year for wRC+; he's consistently awesome and i'm not really sure you guys fully realize or appreciate this
  11. Joe Pequeno @JoePequenoCBS5 Source says verbal agreement in place for Jim Harbaugh to become new Michigan coach. No contracts signed, but UM feels real confident. and seemingly every halfway-reputable source is in agreement with this general sentiment, and has been for a short while; Tuesday's basketball game vs. UI is the rumored occasion for announcement
  12. to expound on my previous post, if Theo fully believes the rhetoric he's talked up about "90 percent of the game revolves around controlling the strike zone", he would want to jump at the chance to get the type of player Ben Zobrist is (11.5% BB / 12.8% K last season) in return for a guy like Javy who just has no clue of the strike zone
  13. Seriously? Baez + (1 of those 3 guys) for 1 year of Ben Zobrist who will be 34 in May???? Are you kidding me? I like Zobrist as much as the next guy, but holy cow, what an overpay. You do realize you're talking about a top 10 prospect (Baez) and then basically a top 100 prospect or fringy for Zobrist. We got that package for Shark and Hammel. i really don't think intelligent people in baseball actually value Baez like a top-10 prospect; unfortunately we were the team that hired that idiot who was making Miggy comparisons with him...remember, other teams are the ones with scouting reports that are just huge red clouds around the strike zone and a huge 'LOL' writing overlaid anyway, Zobrist would be the only non-Rizzo we could reasonably expect .350 OBP from and he projects as a nearly 3-win upgrade at 2B- i view that as a sizable improvement
  14. sounds like Castro tried to flee the scene, but he didn't run hard out of the gate #typical
  15. i think they insist on Baez / Russell as centerpiece; i'd obviously be willing to part with Baez & one of Almora/Johnson/Vogelbach re Shields, i think i recall seeing his agent wants 5/110...i'll laugh when he inevitably 'settles' for 5/80
  16. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/12/21/report-cutler-likely-back-next-season/ "Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is also reported to be on Chicago’s short list of potential interviewees. San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, a former Bear, has been mentioned, but his salary demands are likely too rich for ownership’s liking."
  17. Just playing Meatball's advocate, his yards would have been better if there weren't 7 drops. Also if there was garbage time I'm the game like Cutler has had in a lot of his games. It was a decent performance from a backup QB. Nothing to get excited about but nothing to disparage either. i'll be interested to see where PFF rates him tomorrow; a positive grade wouldn't surprise me
  18. @mellinger: Chiefs cut it to a three possession game, 17-9.
  19. don't forget, the special teams are looking really good today
  20. does Eben Britton have any career catches?
  21. oh yea well i was an umpire, and i only ever called balls & strikes based on catcher actions
  22. true, Michigan just sent a bunch of players to the pros, easily explaining its recent struggles
