Lack of capacity isn't a problem with 41,000 seats+ in the park now (plus rooftop revenue). That puts us smack in the middle of the division in capacity. Miller, GABP, new Busch are very slightly larger (like 1-3k more), Minute Maid and PNC are 1-3k smaller. Lack of TV money isn't a problem either (imagine if WGN actually had to pay fair market value for the national game broadcasts that basically keep them on cable systems across the Midwest). Lack of merchandise sales certainly isn't a problem.... you don't see everyone, men and women with Reds gear on at a Reds game. The thing is, the Tribune has done an amazing job of selling the team to a generation of people in the Midwest (and nationally somewhat) and creating a huge fanbase for the team, so they don't have to field a good team every year to make a profit. You have to blame broadcasts on WGN when it was the only baseball on TV every day in many areas, Caray, etc for that as much as Wrigley.
