  1. Walker lines out to second on the first pitch. 2 down. Take some pitches guys.
  2. Pierre leads of the bottom half of the 1st inning with a slap to 3rd. The throw to first is in time. 1 down. Pierre showed bunt and then tried to slap the ball past Dobbs.
  3. both williams and rusch are usually horrible in ST. no worries.
  4. Williams can't spot the fastball. Rivera strikes out swinging to end our misery. 0-2 Mariners
  5. Morris walks on 4 pitches. Bases loaded, 2 down. Rivera © up.
  6. Dobbs grounds out to 1st. Runners advance to 2nd and 3rd. 2 down. Morris (LF) up.
  7. Line drive single over Cedeno drives in Lawton from second. Rothschild out to the mound.
  8. Sexson walks after running the count full. 1 down, men on 1st and 2nd. Everett up.
  9. Let them take extra BP or pitch a sim game. This isn't Little League. Yes, Willis and Tex deserved their playing time...in round 1. They obviously didn't come to the WBC prepared for competition. Come on. If Teixeira and Lee reversed their production thus far, would you want Lee benched for the rest of the classic? Teixeira's one of the best hitters in the game, a poor 12 at bats doesn't change that one bit. If DLee looked that bad in the field and at bat, yes, I would want him benched. Tex may be one of the best hitters in the game from about May/June on (a notorious slow starter). Too bad this is March. This wasn't unexpected. He's played 1 game this round, it's not like Lee is rotting away. He played 2 last round, 1 at DH, and since Chipper was hitting he lost that. Do you think that Tex is going to be starting at 1B in an elimination game? Would we be facing an elimination game if the hottest players played?

  11. Let them take extra BP or pitch a sim game. This isn't Little League. Yes, Willis and Tex deserved their playing time...in round 1. They obviously didn't come to the WBC prepared for competition. it doesn't really matter how insistant or outraged people are or the stakes involved. there are obligations to follow. if you don't like it, I guess the WBC isn't for you, because inevitably these situations are going to arise. if a player is benched because he is not performing, teams will start to not allow their players to go to the WBC because they aren't getting the work they need this time of year. that happens, you create a slippery slope, where no team will allow their best to go to the WBC. suddenly, no WBC. and I have no idea what "didn't come to the WBC prepared for competition" means. I'm reminded of Bobby Knight questioning what it means for a team to come "with their game face on." It's not about being outraged. The best player should play. Tex can get his work in off the field. 11 ABs isn't "getting his work in" anyway. Slippery slope? Please tell me you didn't just use the most invalid argument on the planet. Have you seen Teixeira's ABs? They've been horrible. It's not like he's just missing, or is the victim of bad luck. He's sucked. His D has been poor as well, so I'm not sure what he's doing playing 1B instead of DHing.
  12. This seems to make much more sense. But what would we get for him? I agree. This doesn't make much sense, but some moves don't. If Walker gets dumped for Matos, his relationship with dusty/hendry must be in the toilet.

  14. Some dude from the Baltimore Sun thinks Walker for Matos is on the horizon: source
  15. Umm what rumor? Nothing on the transaction page.... It's going around the O's community right now (probably not true). I find it a little hard to believe after Walker said Hendry hadn't talked to him about a trade and JH is usually pretty open about that stuff (with the player anyways). I guess that could have changed with the recent miscommunication (or whatever it was) between walker and dusty/hendry. But Matos? I hadn't realized Walker's value was so low, or that we needed another reserve OF with Hairston and Pagan looking good.
  16. Is he usually rusty in ST? I can't remember. I think he was notoriously a slow starter in SF. Yes 2-7, 7.52 ERA, 12.34 H/9, 3.47 BB/9, 1.76 WHIP Sweet. Now I'm less worried. Thanks. Maybe we should let Williams pitch simulated games for the first third of the season as well.

  18. Any truth to the Walker for Matos (Baltimore) rumor? Say it ain't so, Mr. Miles!
  19. I agree. The all-around suckage of Dontrelle Willis was the main culprit. Buck Martinez must have been flipping blind to have let that continue for as long as he did.
  20. It works in high school, not the majors. It'd work against the Cubs.
  21. I think Howry actually had opportunities to close, FWIW.
  22. Uh....wasn't that him and Pie who almost collided? Twice? Yup. Pie called for the ball on the run and Theriot backed up into his path. Good thing Pie pealed off and slowed up before hitting the fence. I wanted to throttle Theriot at that moment.
