    I'm still waiting for his talent to shine. I mean basically he hasn't shown anything but a above average to great curve ball. I know he's only got 20 innings under his belt in the bigs, but I can't see how in the world you are going to be an effective starter with 1 pitch. He just struck out Vlad with a fastball, so I wouldn't say he's a one pitch kid. Still, he's too wild and it's going to hurt him in the bigs. It's like jekyll and hyde. One AB, gives up the rocket double. The next batter he makes look [expletive]. I'm not sold either.

    ...or paranoid. I'm just happy it's fairly minor. I'm not sure it's entirely fair to say either when both he and Wood have been told repeatedly to let the Cubs know about everything that doesn't feel normal. That's how the Cubs have conditioned him. He's only doing what they told him. no no. i think he is justifiably paranoid in a sense. Prior gets criticized for not pitching through pain and for not telling the coaches that he is truly injured. Maybe he just doesn't know his body that well. I'd rather have him get a little scared, tell someone and miss a few days rather than pitch through an injury, make it worse and miss significant time.

    I have no idea. Wouldn't they have done the MRI yeserday? ugh! Maybe they were waiting for swelling (or irritation) to go down. It could just be someone deciding to be cautious for once.

    Wood: NTC According to Cot's Contracts, the NTC is only for '04-'06 and does not include the option for '07.

    I'd trade Prior, Wood (pick up the option, eat the cash and get some decent prospects), Jones, and Barrett. Why would you want to trade Barrett right now? He's one of the best hitting catchers in the league? Do you really think a young guy in the farm system is going to be significantly better than him? I don't. It's about getting prospects of value. You don't get that by trading Neifi. His value is exactly why you trade him. It will never be higher.
