  1. Who's the first? Nefi, although Dusty would be a strong choice to.
  2. As a cards fan Macias is my 2nd favorite cub!

  5. As a cards fan I must say neifi is my favorite cub
  6. The Cardinals may be ahead of us by more than 10 games in the standings, but it ain't because of fundementals. Also, it's a bit disingenuous for the Cardinals to cry injury when it has only happened to them recently while the Cubs have been plagued for most of the season. Not to be a troll but i dont think the cards have been crying. I disagree, that's not what I read from the St Louis media. The article on Cardnials.com that setup this game had a headline bemoaning the team's injury plagued lineup. It was as if they had a built in excuse for a presummed loss to Prior. Outside of the media, some Cards fans are talking about how their minor league team almost beat us yesterday. To that I must remind them that there is nothing Triple A about Matt Morris' arm yet he gave up 6 earned runs... Those aren't the cards... those are fans and media.

  8. Come on guys ESPN only cares about the red soxs and yankees!
  9. That's a dubious statement ... but I'll grant you that the fans' attitude/atmosphere at Wrigley had a big hand in dealing us the events of Game 6. You would be correct. I should know. I was there. The studies that have shown that mass consciousness can affect the outcome of events are well-documented. It was something like a group of patients at a hospital were prayed for and group wasn't. The results were surprising, IIRC. Wasn't there another study recently done on patients who were prayed for, meditated for, some combination of the two, or neither that concluded prayer and meditation did nothing for them? I know its in one of these commentaries. I'll try and find a better link http://www.randi.org/jr/archive.html You are correct, the study he is referencing was very flawed. Interesting. I'd like to learn more. Do you have a link?

  11. I'm thinking Lee will hit in the 315-325 range, with a 380-400 OPS, and a 550-600 SLG. Hey we're pretty close except for the BA creepy
  12. Just curious... so what does everyone think Lee will do next year? I'm thinking .310 (with walk pretty much same as this year)-40-110ish? Speaking of players who seem to blow up out of nowhere... how about Melvin Mora?
  13. What insight do you have that points you to that? While all we are doing is speculating, it is an educated speculation. We are combining Information from a very reliable posters Source, and Jim Hendry's track record. (he has traded for someone who is unwanted/meaningly/sucky and spun him in bigger deal. See: Aram & Lofton for Hill and Jose Hernandez, 2003) This isnt that far of a streatch. Do you think a guy like Jody is a deal breaker in a blockbuster deal? Guys like him are a dime a dozen. It's ok to speculate... heck I do it in cards trades. I'm just sayin... Jody freakin Gerut?? As Vance said, Gerut is better than Jason Lane, so in one way he's an upgrade over an offer that was on the table for Dunn. Thus, Gerut doesn't have to play the role of superstar prospect or stud OF; he just has to be better than Jason Lane. I will say Lane was considered to have more upside I believe (no idea if he still does). I guess the Cubs needed a back up CF who is also happens to be a local guy. I can't believe the reds wouldnt do a deal for a below avg OFer... heck they have a glut of OFers as it is...

  18. It's not necessarily that the Reds want Jody, but Jody could be replacing whomever they do want. If Corey fits the bill, Jody could conceivably fill in at center for the rest of the season. And if Hairston is the "established major leaguer"... well, again, Jody in center. No offense but i really think this is wishful think by you cub fans. Here's not going anywhere because he has little trade value. I think Jody is a good utility OFer whos from the chicagoland area. Thats not such a bad thing... I just dont see this leading to another deal.
  19. We never said they did. The reds want a "established position player" The cubs really couldnt provide that, well, They could, but I dont think hendry really wants to give up any of our established position players. It makes sense then, that we get a guy like gerut, by giving up a prospect, to then spin to Cincy. established = below avg LFer... I bet dusty is getting goosebumps right now
  20. How do you guys know the reds want jody? I've never heard that until this thread...
  21. I thought about that but lets take sides, it makes things more interesting.
  22. The fact that Jody is a local guy kinda makes me think he's here to stay...
