  1. Wow, that's an awful line for Walker. I wonder how they came to that conclusion? Maybe it assumes he plays a full season against lefty pitching? edit - i mean no platooning
  2. I read somewhere Murton projects to have a Conine type career.
  3. St. Louis - Lost Larry Walker, Reggie Sanders, Matt Morris, Mark Grudzielanek and Abraham Nunez. Picked up a few bullpen arms and other junk. Payroll crunch. No Burnett. :pukel: Houston - The Roger Clemens mess has handicapped the team. Chicago Cubs - Started the offseason with lots of money and pretty much wasted it on guys who aren't that good.
  4. Hah, I'm tempted to start a new thread debating who's had the worse offseason. So sad...
  5. Considering the Cubs offseason do you really believe that? Look at the Cards pickups so far... not exactly what I call stunning! I can think of holes in RF (no L.Walker) LF (no R.Sanders) you have no one at 2nd, lost Matt Morris ... Burnett chose another Country... Cubs offseason > Cards offseason No question, our offseason has been bad to!

  7. Can you believe the Cubs and Cards might get in a bidding war over this turd?
  8. add in a bucket of chicken wings and half the people here things it should land Abreu. Add Williams and Harvey and I think it gets you Abreu. Unfortunately, you're not the Phil's GM. Everything I read said they want a #1 SP for Abreu. Nowhere in that list of names is anything above a #3 SP maybe. A) They aren't getting a #1, Williams stacks up with almost every pitcher who has even been rumored, much less ones that are realistic possiblities. B) If Philly trades Abreu, it's because the new GM is trying to change from the old GM's approach, and that is because the ownership group is sick of paying a lot of money for a team that quickly lost the interest of the fans and didn't bring them any postseason revenue. Abreu would be traded because he's no longer in their plans for the future, at his age and salary level, and with their OF position, as is. They will have a really tough time signing top notch pitchers for that ballpark unless they pay much more than anybody else, and #1 starters are not available via trade. They need pitching depth, possibly more than they need just 1 really good pitcher, and they want payroll flexibility in the next couple seasons. If you were the Phils GM would you do that deal?
  9. What ever happened to the Cardinal Bo Hart? Is he available? That kid had spunk! - Edward K., Indianapolis, Ind.
  10. add in a bucket of chicken wings and half the people here things it should land Abreu. Add Williams and Harvey and I think it gets you Abreu. Although the Phil's like chicken I think it'd take an impact player to land him.
  11. Just curious, what type of player does everyone think Nolasco, Mitre, and Pinto should bring?
  12. He's always had horrible control...over six walks per nine innings in each of his first two seasons (over 5.6 BB/9 IP for his MLB career). His strikeout rate has dropped off considerably, and he susceptable to the longball. He's simply not a good pitcher at all. Nuff said then. He might be an interesting arm out of the bullpen.
  13. Why? I remember him kicking ass in both playoff series. For the record, I was among the anti-Alou crowd but would love to have him back. Last year's abominable offense made me miss the piss. I blame the Bartman incident on both Alou (and Gonzo). IMO, it was Alou that unnerved the crowd, Prior, and the rest of the team with his outburst. Had Moises simply acted like the ball was a routine ball out of play the inning would have proceeded without incident (and Prior would have probably escaped unscathed). Alou's reaction quieted the crowd and made eveyone feel weird. I was watching at home thinking "oh no" and I'm sure it affected AGon, Prior, and everyone else. From what I've read, McKeon said , in response to the Bartman ball, "let's make this kid famous." In reality it was Alou that made him famous with his usual lack of self control. Given the circumstances I think most people would have reacted the same way as Alou. It was just one of those freak things in an intense playoff game.
  14. I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of the Moose signing but I really like what he brings to the team.
  15. Lovie shouldn't be coach of the year because it took him too long to put Rex in.
  16. If Rex is solid the bears are the best team in the NFC. No question.
  17. Mora is on the tilt
  18. I really think this team could win a super bowl.
  19. I wish the Cubs would chow down sometime. Trade for Ray King.
  20. I honestly don't think so. They got a shot now now if they could just get their RB back... Huh? Ack, bad post. I meant if they get Benson back they are going to have an interesting O.
  21. I honestly don't think so. They got a shot now now if they could just get their RB back...
  22. How often does a 9-4 team change their QB because he stinks? How strange.
  23. Haha, did you see Ortin? he didn't look real happy about that TD.
  24. I know, I feel dumber for having heard that junk!
  25. He has some much more pop on his passes!
