  1. That trade would be a steal for the Cubs.
  2. After what TLR\Duncan did to Alan Benes I think they changed their approach to working young pitchers (i.e. Ankiel, Haren, Reyes). As for Barton, I think he's an overrated prospect: - No natural position - Lacks power But yes, it was a one-sided trade.
  3. Oh come on, homer. A healthy Griffey will be a far superior SP than Edmonds. Good lineup! That's my point, Griffey is hardly ever healthy. I'd move him to SS but Rolen is blocking him.
  4. Here's my team.... SP - Dunn SP - Isringhausen SP - Edmonds SP - Turnbow SP - Pujols RP - Bay RP - Carpenter RP - Weeks RP - Zambrano C - Lee 1B - Lidge 2B - Oswalt 3B - Sheets SS - Rolen OF - Lopez OF - Barrett OF - Dempster
  5. What do you mean by effective? One problem with ERA+ is it's a rate stat. I like VORP because the number of innings pitched is taken in to account.

  7. Who? Z edit - Dear lord I need to proof read my posts.
  8. Since I'm a Cardinal fan I probably shouldn't mention this however wasn't there a game last year where it was pretty clear he walked out on a game because he was PO'd but later it was reported his back was ailing him?
  9. Reyes looked bad during ST, Ponson earned the job.
  10. OF is really easy to pick up, but I'd trust the guy that's played it at some point in his professional career over the one who probably hasn't played it since he was about 6. True, but in this imaginary situation I figured DLee would have time to pick up the position during spring training. I believe he would better because of his superior speed and athleticism.
  11. Bad move however Ryan Church isn't special.
  12. Let's face it, DLee would probably be a better OFer than AP.
  13. Van Slyke is an awesome choice however what's up with Hawkins?
  14. The NL Central is easily the most competitive division. That said, I was surpised how much love the Pirates got.
  15. I pretty much agree with everything here however I think 2B will resolve itself for the Cards. It should be an interesting... 16. I'm sure this has been mentioned umpteen times on this board, but Bill James and his wild statistical formulas took all the factors into consideration and says that this was the single most dominating pitching performance in the history of baseball. Not that I doubt you but where did you read this? Also the Gaetti fan club loves NSBB!
  17. I'm sure this has been done before but it's always fun. Although I'm a dreaded Cardinal fan here's my top 5: 1) Willie McGee - The man played pretty... sorta. 2) Albert Pujols - Check the sig. 3) Stan "The Man" Musial - Possibly the most underrated great player of all time. 4) Bob Gibson - One of the most feared pitchers ever, had ice in his veins during the post season, 1.12. 5) Mark McGwire - Tough choice for obvious reasons however the McGwire and Sosa race renewed my love of baseball. Since this is NSBB I'll admit Sandberg is my favorite Cub. Let us never speak of that fact again. So what is your top 5?
  18. I'd love to see Berkman in CF.
  19. & what way would that have been that your aware of? I would have kept Nolasco, overpaid for Furcal to get our "leadoff hitter" (who i didn't want until i realized we were going to go with Pierre for decent talent, and blocking Pie in the process). Pie is mediocre in a corner OF spot and a possible stud in CF. I also would have picked up Michaels and stuck him in RF instead of Jones. The next good long term RF option to come on the trade market would be ours. muahahahaha  What is the max you would have paid? What do you think Nolasco's ceiling is? I think JH made the right move here.
  20. Old story however Rolen's power is my #1 off season concern.
  21. Pagan >>>>>>> Macias No question. I miss the little Germlin.
  22. Give him time. Maybe we should tell him the world series starts tomorrow. He'll just go and break his hand.
  23. Astros' insurance claim on Bagwell denied That should help prevent any big signings.
  24. Actually his act got pretty old in STL. He was a complete jerk in the 04 playoffs.
