    A season of major league baseball isn't noise. Plus, there's no such thing as "a year to sign FA's or make room for future FA's". Room for future FA's is just a made up excuse to justify taking a dive. I disagree with you on both your responses. I do believe the cubbies intend to sign FA's, expensive one's, when it makes sense, winning sense. And yes, it was noise. It is over, it sucked, I suspect Theo hates losing even more than you do. Your comments really don't contradict my original points, so I guess that makes your comments noise, eh?

    mather is hardly worth arguing over, don't you think? To me it comes down to only 2 things really - Was this a year to sign FA's or make room for future FA's? Obviously it was B - Do our minor leagues look better? At the lowest levels, yes. And I THINK our new management may prove to be decent drafters (f*ing finally) Hopefully in the future our minor league teams will produce some ML talent and then signing significant big $$$ FA's will make sense to me, everything else is pretty much noise I guess I would also add developing a top to bottom "cubbie way" which they are doing and hiring and beginning to develop Sveum, whom I like quite a bit I don't like losing but I like what they have done as it applies to the future.

    is boise to Eugene even a possibility? The 2 contracts are up at the same time, that's the only reason to think that is possible?

    I wonder about the scenario above also, what if the cubs pay a chunk of Ryan's salary, could they get better prospects? Especially to a small market, cash strapped, fiscally conservative kind of team?

    per am1000 pretty much sucked up the rest of the available signing $$$. Around 3.9 million total I believe

    I moved to Corvallis, Oregon recently and had NO IDEA that boise played both in Salem and in Eugene. I am going to make at least one game. Consider me shamed.

    :shock: Someone got a logical explanation for that? That entire team got hit a lot...98 HBP as a team. They had another guy that was hit 14 times and three other guys that were hit at least 10 times. so you are saying he's gritty?

    I don't think anyone is moaning. I sound like the most lukewarm person on the deal, and I like it. Then this is a rare thing indeed. I hope it doesn't mean that we are all mistaken rather than just 1/2 of us.

    Very surprised. That is quite a bit cheaper than I would have thought, and I liked Cash. People will moan regardless, but to me this is potentially a really impressive trade.

    ok with bringing in Reed See the sense of trading Marshall. Looking forward to seeing the prospects. Not having the strong reaction on either that some here are. Think both moves can be seen as sensible.

    I got it. I really liked it. But am canceling it. What I liked about it (lots of info about lots of stuff) will likely be what is removed in the new ver.

    can we consolidate in one thread the group think on this? Yes, there are alot of unknowns (GM/Manager/$$$) but I think we could still make a good first pass analysis Likely? Obtainable? Wishful thinking?
