  1. I did it four years ago and it feels really good. I know there's somebody ready to take my place, but it makes me feel a little better. I don't know why but the whole "Wrigley" experience doesn't mean a lot to me anymore. A World Series title is more important to me and I won't go back until I feel the effort is being made toward that goal.
  2. Heard an interview with Eyre today on the Score. He said he liked the fact that Dusty runs a "loose" clubhouse and he's the type of manager who doesn't care if you bring your kids to the park. Teams of choice were St. Louis because of their "winning tradition" and the Cubs "of course, for their winning tradition." I almost spit my Diet Pepsi up when I heard that one. Sounds like a pretty cool guy. Of course, I would be too after hitting the lottery.
  3. If the breakdown of Eyre contract has been posted, then I apologize, but the bolded area gave me  ](*,) . When does a solid, but unspectular reliever get a "no-trade clause?" Something tells me, the Cubs were the only team to even offer a no trade clause. No trade clause ????????? Is that a common relief pitcher contract clause ???
  4. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sports/cst-spt-free16.html Giles to the Cubs? No Furcal or Pierre. Interest from the Cubs in Ichiro? Please, no Jacque Jones. Just speculation, but interesting.
  5. He's in Florida on vacation and he said he has no info regrading Pierre.
  6. I have a bad feeling that Hendry is really going to overpay for Pierre.
  7. I'm starting to think I'd rather have Lugo.
  8. Interesting that ESPN, who wouldn't even admit there might be a steroid problem, now has this huge article.
  9. Wood will stay healthy if he changes his pitching style. If he continues to throw across his body and with such force that he falls off the mound to the first base side, then he will be injured again.
  10. actually I posted it in both places, in case somebody missed it.
  11. I'll take McCarthy over Garland.
  12. Just heard this on the Score. Quite an improvement over Wayne Hagin.
  13. Murton or Kearns? I like Murton but I haven't seen enough of Kearns? What would everybody else's choice be?
  14. I agree. I can't see Hendry pulling the trigger on a deal for Dunn, I don't have any specific reason. Kearns will come much cheaper. But he'll come cheaper because he's not that good. Agreed.

  16. http://baseball.about.com/od/fantasybaseball/a/2005dates.htm I saw this on another message board and thought it was pretty cool.
  17. http://baseball.about.com/od/fantasybaseball/a/2005dates.htm I'm not sure if this has been posted or not, but I saw this on the Cubs message board at ChicagoSports. Pretty cool.
  18. IMO, Giles is not going to sit around and wait to see how the Cubs postseason plays out before making a decision. As far as Hendry's plan, I couldn't even begin to tell you what it is.
  19. Bruce, please tell us a big trade is in the works.......
  20. I would agree if not for the love-fest Dusty has with Neifi.
  21. Wow....I was hoping the title change of the thread was a misprint. Bad, bad move. Here comes another year of veteran vs. rookie B.S. Another case of a guy who would be a good backup (insert Holly here) that will probably see a lot of playing time under the current manager. And to top it off, he gets TWO years. Hendry better have some monster moves up his sleeve. Unbelievable.
