  1. But defense is not the reason this team didn't win enough games this year. Not saying you are wrong, but I can think of 3 games off the top of my head that the defense cost us. An improved defense should be one of our concerns, especially up the middle.
  2. That would be a very impressive offseason. And I'd be pleasantly suprised if it happened. As far as Milton Bradley being insane, the White Sox have dealt pretty well with Carl Everett, who's no model of mental health. I think Bradley just needs to be on a winning team in a supportive enviroment. My concern would be that Hendry wouldn't see the need for a big-time RF if he made the trade and landed Furcal. That would be my major concern after those deals. It would be an upgrade no doubt, but not an enormous one. Plus, I could see Jim being extremely satisfied with the team after those moves, then exercising Burnitz' ugly option (when does that have to happen?). I would not be happy with that OF. What would the RC difference be between Furcal, Castillo and Bradley vs the 1005 CF's, SS's and 2B we had? I agree that I wouldn't be thrilled with that OF, but would the defense/pitching be improved enough to make up for lacking a good RF?
  3. Maybe DePodesta wants extra money to pursue Burnett, Damon or Millwood. Or maybe he wants to get rid of divisive players

I think Bradley just needs to be on a winning team in a supportive enviroment. My concern would be that Hendry wouldn't see the need for a big-time RF if he made the trade and landed Furcal. He might look at a lineup with: Furcal Castillo Lee Ramirez Bradley Murton Barrett Nameless RF as being good enough as is. Well, it would be a marked improvement over the 2005 offense, even assuming a regression from Lee. However, your point is well taken, and I fear the "Nameless RF" in your lineup there would be named Jeromy Burnitz. That would somewhat damper my enthusiasm about the rest of the moves, but it's still a better offseason than last season's.

  6. I forgot about Lowe's need for a really strong IF. It almost requires Hendry to go after Furcal rather than retain Nomar, since having Nomar and ARam on the left side might give Lowe a stroke at some point.
  7. It does free up money for LA to pursue AJ Burnett and Johnny Damon. I'd be curious to know which OF prospect the Marlins would want. I would want to hang on to Murton, and if it's not Pie, is it a Harvey type player?
  8. That is correct. While it does seem far fetched in some ways, the money part of it makes sense for the Marlins, and the Dodgers do figure to shop Bradley and either Lowe or Odalis Perez. Curiously, neither of these rumours involved Corey Patterson. I am pretty convinced Hendry will trade Patterson, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Hoops As far as Patterson is concerned, I see him being moved for cents on the dollar. I'd be suprised if they move Lowe, whom they just signed, before they moved Perez.
  9. Maybe if we did Pie for Manny, and picked up ALL of his salary, Boston would consider it. I can see Boston inquiring about Patterson, but we'd geting not much in value back. Patterson is moved for cents on the dollar this winter. Bank on it. Think bulk bullpen arm or low level prospect.
  10. So we'd end up with Bradley, Lowe and Castillo after all of that? That's a pretty decent haul. I'd be shocked if we were that active, though.
  11. That was eerily Cub-like. I'm going to sleep. Maybe when I wake up the Ligue family will have somehow cost the Sox a clinching win.
  12. C'mon, Vlad, take your skirt off and hit the ball to Raisin's dorm...
  13. How DO they get through airport security with that horseshoe ?? Did I mention that I hate the white sox ? Scott Podsednik's speed on the basepaths and intangibles gets it through security.
  14. It's only the 8th inning USS. Yeah, I caught my mistake and edited it.. :D
  15. Maybe the real Vlad Guerrero will decide to make an appearance. 5 outs away from making every shirtless convict completely insufferable...time for the ghosts to come out...
  16. You can only not call strike 3 so many times before you have to throw a bone out...
  17. I'm about to get a little sad, a little jealous, and a bit iritated.... this should have been us 2 years ago.
  18. Unbelievable. The horseshoe remains firmly entrenched... 4-3 Sox.
  19. FYI, on SoSH Corey's name has been bandied about as a possible CF trade target...
  20. OK, so that was strike 3 there...
  21. Does he have a bat in his hands ? For the moment...
  22. So does anyone else fear Joe Crede here?
  23. If this were the NBA, David Stern would have fixed one of these games for Anaheim to make up for Game 2.
  24. Well, he was safe, but the umps owed the halos a makeup there... and they didn't get it.
