  1. Oh screw you, man. Just...wow. Way to run your mouth, Jacque. Good thing you probably won't start tonight's game. Is he really implying that Cub fans are fickle?
  2. I think he's likable. He seems to enjoy playing the game, something that can't be said for a lot of players. Now, if he could just stop sucking then I'd like him a whole heck of a lot more. Yes, most of my dislike stems from the fact that he stinks like hot garbage. Still, it irks me when someone so terrible showbaots when he finally does something worthwile. It seems like he's trying to stick it to the boo-ers. The bat flip? I don't think it's showboating. He does it after every single home run. It's just his routine at this point. I'm with you guys. I don't care about the bat flip. I care about the strikeouts.
  3. Well, I wrote what I wrote last night in the midst of a bad mood, but Neifi does strike me as particularly irritating to watch on the field. I'm sure my feelings and my interpretations of his on-field mannerisms are colored by my general irritation with him being a Cub. However, most ML players with inflated senses of self worth have accomplished more than Neifi. I bet you AAA athletes are cocky. Probably. I was a cocky college soccer player. But should the Trinidad Hubbards of the minor leagues be cocky?

  5. Jones shouldn't be booed just yet, but at the same time he shouldn't gripe abbout the fans' reaction to his subpar play thus far. Also, comparing Ramirez's early season slump to Jones' isn't really a good comparison. Ramirez has been a consistent performer nearly every season of his career. Jones has not. What we're seeing from Jones is pretty much what we should have expected-occasional power, some decent defense and a lot of strikeouts. I'm sure he'll have a couple multi hit games to get him around the .250 mark, but he's not going to be better that that.
  6. Hahaha...Wow. Judging by that rationale Zambrano should be committed. For being intense on the field? I wish more players were that competitive.
  7. This would be the worst thing to ever happen. Not really. You didn't draft Benson to be a backup for 2 years.
  8. I'll take 2/3. Tommorrow's gonna be tough. I think we can beat Willis. I also don't think their offense should trouble us save Cabrera.
  9. Jones should have called him off, then. He's got the play in front of him. There wasn't a reason for Neifi to get involved.
  10. It was kind of nice to see. Too bad it was two and a half years too late, though. :x
  11. I think cedeno said Perez had been only helpful. Threads like this are why people get sick of Neifi-bashing. I don't want to start a whole Neifi bashing thing, but what else is Cedeno going to say? Is he going to call him out in ST to the press? Saying a veteran is helping you as a young player is the standard cliche line.
  12. It was posted in the game thread from Sunday by Vance. Apparently he's the only Cub in 2 years Vance can't get to sign, and that was his given reason why. Which is hilarious. I'd be willing to bet I could get more from my autograph on EBay than Neifi could.
  13. Neifi seems like a jerk. Seriously. Between his paranoia about people selling his autograph on Ebay to his Cedeno comments in ST to the way he carries himself on the field. He seems to have an inflated sense of self worth.
  14. I'm with you. Artest shouldn't have been suspended any more than Finley or whoever should have been for elbowing him in the head earlier in the game. And the calls that some players get and get away with are absurd. Officiating in about every league is pretty low.
  15. Personally I think the contract year stuff with Maddux is kind of ridiculous. I think his improved performance due to his offseason workouts is a matter of self pride. Maddux was not satisfied with his performance the last couple of years and he did something about it, not because of it being a contract year. I find it odd that his self pride kicked in after a subpar season and before a contract season. I think he did the same things he always did in the past just thinking that would be enough. I don't think he slacked the last two seasons I just think he relized he needed to do more knowing that this was possibly going to be his last year, and he didn't want to go out on a sour note. Just my hypothesis As I said in my edit, given that we're paying him borderline #1 starter money, he should have been in shape before 2005. Now all of a sudden he's in shape and 4-0.

Also, he should have had a responsibility to do more than play golf the before the 2005 season, given that we were paying him ace money.
  17. Is he still hurt? Why are we hoarding pitchers? Is he going to pitch at AAA?
  18. I agree completely with what JC said. At the time, it was a pretty silly signing given the supposed state of the system and the other needs on the team, especially offensively. That said, i'm thrilled he's off to this kind of start, and if he keeps it up, he'll have earned the salary we paid him, albiet at the back end (and in a contract year).
  19. I love him...he's my favorite player, but Ramirez has to pick it up if we're going to have any chance.
  20. you're drunk, aren't you? Is he talking about injury time? As an aside, I wish they'd bring back the Golden Goal...
  21. How these guys are still with this team after their performances is beyond me.
  22. The problem there is that Eyechart can only play 1B. And he hits like a pitcher. The obvious benefit to it would be that he's pretty strong defensively. I think there are better options out there. Gload, Wilson, Clark, Choi, Graffanino...
  23. The problem there is that Eyechart can only play 1B.
  24. So would I. I don't think the Sox would...
  25. Lee to the 60 day DL would solve that problem. I've seen 6-8 weeks. With a rehab assignment that comes to 60 days. I'd be suprised if the 60 day DL'd him. Fractures can heal faster than projections. I broke my wrist once and instead of the 6-8 weeks, it took about 4 to heal. First, did you have the same wrist injury as Lee did? Second, did you factor in the recovery time? They aren't going to take the cast off on one day and stick him in the lineup. I have seen 8-10 weeks on the injury. Putting him on the 60 day DL would ensure that he wouldn't come back too quick. No and yes. You can help a break or a fracture heal more quickly, to a certain extent. Drink lots of milk, stimulate blood flow to the area, etc. I think Lee will miss closer to the 8 weeks than the 10.
