  1. Is this another "Aramis is a lazy oaf who doesn't want to work" post?
  2. Aramis is every bit as good as Lee. He's worth at least as much.
  3. I'm hoping this article is just typical Paul Sullivan crap. He doesn't care for Ramirez; maybe he's just trying to create a public consensus that isn't necessarily there. As far as Hendry waiting to lock guys up, he's done this before. Lee and Ramirez each gave Opening Day deadlines, IIRC, to get an extension worked out, and each time Hendry waited til the last minute to get it done. I can't recall if Wood's extension was the same way, but there is some precedent. I cannot imagine Hendry being dumb enough to not resign him. If the organization thought his hustle and "clutchiness" was going to preclude them from resigning him (they had to know he'd opt out), they should have dealt him at the deadline.
  4. He also led the NL in making outs. I think he was 11th all time in outs this past season. If it comes down to Pierre or Aramis and some other CF, I hope Hendry chooses the latter. Pierre won't be worth half of what he signs.
  5. Not a chance, unless you want to send Manny along and take back Jones.
  6. I will take the "Little League" package. I will also PM Bob's Keeper.
  7. Agreed. There's a limit to how much we can improve this winter as it is. If Ramirez goes elsewhere, a difficult task becomes a nearly impossible one.
  8. Kind of sounds anti-Soriano for center, though he does go on saying how athleticism is important in center. The "butcher on defense" line probably counts out Adam Dunn too then. It also counts out Carlos Lee, for that matter.
  9. If Hendry screws this up, he should be fired on the spot. There should be no good reason to not sign him, and if he leaves without compensation other than a piddling draft pick (which we'll waste anyway), I'll be super ticked.
  10. If I remember correctly, Lofton "questioned" Sosa's committment ot playing to win, or something like that. And people say Lofton isn't the easiest person to get along, but Sosa pissed off alot of people in Chicago (Wood/Girardi/Grace, etc, etc) so I tend to believe Kenny was in the "right" with his altercation with Sosa. Why do people continue to sign the Soriano to CF song? I don't get it. I think Lofton went after Sosa after Game 7 for not taking more pitches in the 8th inning. There was a rumor that someone threw a punch.
  11. Yeah, it just says that he got a second opinion other than O'Neal. It's a good thing. Unless you know O'neal's medical abckground then you are pretty unqualified to make that statement. I know Mark, Mark did some work on me a while back. He is a ifne trainer. We have 2 years of pretty poor health results, particularly with pitchers. He's the trainer. He shares some of that responsibility.
  12. Yeah, it just says that he got a second opinion other than O'Neal. It's a good thing. Can we delete everything else in the thread except for these two posts and then lock it? Because everyone seems to be ignoring them. It's no longer fair game to question Mark O'Neal's ability?
  13. Yeah, it just says that he got a second opinion other than O'Neal. It's a good thing. Why does O'Neal still have a job?
  14. I wish that sounded more convincing...
  15. Gee, really? Hadn't heard. Hey, at least I justified it with what I think is logical reasoning. Feel free to disagree. Rich Hill pitched pretty bad for a while before showing what he could do. Rex has had some brilliant play and some terrible play. If Grossman played every time like he did tonight, well then you obviously have a case, but before tonight I think he only had 3 INT's. It was a bad game. I think to some degree Turner and Rex panicked. Turner abandoned the run completely after 14-0, and Grossman tried to throw a 14 point TD pass nearly every throw in the 2nd half. He didn't check down, and started staring down his recievers. I think it can be corrected. He's still a work in progress. 2 weeks of film and practice will help.

  17. Jim Hendry has decided he likes fast slap-hitting midgets that catch the ball. Do they all get along, though? Yes. They will all ride to field in the same car. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/tovalondner/midgets.jpg I didn't realize they all had to be partially bald midgets. That would save the Cubs millions on travel expenses.

  19. Ditto for Hendry. If he has a quality offseason, Lou's flaws will be greatly minimized.
  20. I hate this emoticon, but  He was asked about whether his players would hustle. He seemed to think it was a silly question. Oh. I guess I should listen to the presser for context. Thanks. I redirect my rolled eyes at the questioner It was Bruce Levine and it was an obvious shot at Aram. Bruce Levine is such an idiot...I'm so sick of that media inflated issue.

  22. I'd be game, depending on how much salary Philly takes care of.
  23. Over/Under on references to intensity and hustle? I'm setting that at 5. Also, will Lou demostrate his fire by picking up Paul Sullivan and throwing him through the podium?
