  1. The Bears may have overlooked Miami..
  2. I just hope the crowd doesn't turn on Rex.
  3. This is looking like Miami stole Arizona's game plan of pressuring Grossman at all costs. It certainly doesn't help that Berrian isn't in the game.
  4. Why is Gage in instead of Berrian?
  5. Notice there is no mention of the Cubs. Benson and a reliever is way overpaying for a 39 year old ex-steriod using pain in the butt like Sheffield.
  6. I was wondering if we were going to see this. Did you make a similar prediction for the niners game? I don't remember seeing one. I have yet to pick the Bears. :D
  7. I loved Urlacher's response to a reporter telling him that many believe the key to beating the Bears is the short passing game: He should know that that win was a one in a million thing, and that Arizona did expose the Bears in a way. But I saw the interview last night, and it was pretty funny.
  8. Dolphins 19, Bears 17. The Dolphins throw underneath the whole game and control the tempo, exposing the weakness of the Bear defense. The running game plays terribly, with Jones on rushing for 40 yeards, and Benson rushing for 19. Grossman does what he can, but with the running game ineffective, Miami sits back and Rex presses. He throws 2 TD's, but also his 1st 2 INT's at home, including a late INT that seals the loss. reverse jinx
  9. Duhon made 3 lousy plays in a row, but what cost them was free throw disparity.
  10. I didn't mind it.
  11. If that was my elbow, I'd be a little paranoid too. That's his meal ticket for life. That bolded part sounds like a familiar lament.
  12. I remember the Cubs passing on Jim Thome because Hee Seop Choi was waiting in the wings. Perhaps they remember that as well. I also remember a lot of fans up in arms when we traded Lee and gave up Hee Seop, claiming we just took on salary for what will one day be equal production at the same position. Uhh .... not quite. Hindsight=20/20
  13. I think Barrett is a very valuable trading chip. I wouldn't hesitate to send him somewhere in the right deal.
  14. I think Wells' contract situation can cut both ways. Toronto isn't going to want to lose Wells and just get a draft pick for him. You might now be able to get him this offseason, but you could pick him up at some point in the season, and I don't think you necessarily have to give up Pie, Murton or Hill. As far as Jones goes, I'm leery of dealing with Atlanta in general, but if he were available, I think I'd prefer Jones to Wells. How well we match up with Atlanta, I don't know. One thing that is absolutely key, and that I totally agree with you on is we have to be judicious in our trades. We are very thin in the way of tradable assets, so if we deal, we need to deal for the right players.
  15. Holy smokes!! I actually agree with you on this. Im sure Toronto is going to ask for Hill, Pie, and Guzman for Wells. In other words, Toronto is going to ask for alot in return for Vernon. That might be where they'd start, but even they would have to know they wouldn't get our best young pitcher and our top position prospect for a 1 year rental. I'll bet you could talk them down to Marshall, Guzman, Izturis and Harvey.
  16. I have the same feeling about what Toronto is going to want. They obviously still think they can contend against the aging NY and Boston teams. They probably will want one of Hill, Pie or Murton, to set themselves up for 2008 when they'll likely be in a good position to win that division. If that's the cost, I'd probably pass. If they'd be willing to take one of our prospect pitchers like Veal or Gallagher along with maybe Marshall and Izturis, I'd do it.
  17. oh come on, we can top that I'd assume that whatever we're rumored to be sending to NY for Sheffield would be better sent to Philly. Benitez sucks. Benitez ERA+ in 2006: 128 In 2004: 317 Career: 147 Benitez sucked in 2005, but he does not suck. He's no worse than Scott Eyre, that's for sure. I don't think much of Scott Eyre, either. I think with Benitez, you'd be aquiring a "name", but that's about it. Hasn't he had a bunch of injury issues the past few years?
  18. oh come on, we can top that I'd assume that whatever we're rumored to be sending to NY for Sheffield would be better sent to Philly. Benitez sucks.
  19. Comcast had that, too, except it was NFLNetwork on demand.
  20. No truth, at least in the way they made it sound. My Cubs people tell me this likely will go down to Nov. 11. Sigh. Okay. Any insight on how far apart they are?
  21. Bruce, I had to edit this into my previous post, so I'm not sure if you saw it, but the Score reported that the Cubs and Ramirez were "close" on a deal around 5/$70. Is there any truth to this?
  22. I had written that this wreaked of a smear campaign, but admitted the actual probability was low. So that can o' worms was my fault.
  23. Thanks for checking in, Bruce! I admitted that it's highly unlikely that Hendry has anything to do with the volume of anti-Aramis articles in the papers and reoprts on the radio, but the frequency of it all is just amazing to me. I know you said a lot of media aren't sabermetrically clued in, so to speak, but Aramis isn't a player you need to look at deep stats to see the value of. He puts up big numbers in the traditional "triple crown" stats. I just don't get the articles ignoring all of his positive contributions. How bad with the media must he be, then! One question if you have time: The SCORE did report that the two sides were close to getting something done, in the neighborhood of 5/$70. Any truth to this?
