  1. The fact that Santino nearly snorted his way out of MLS and ended up scoring his 1st senior goal at home is a pretty cool story. I like him as a depth option, but Rogers is the revelation here. Left footed and pacy with some jukes. Lots to like. Bretos called Benny "world class" last night. I didn't know how to feel about that. I like the Davies to Ligue 1 move.
  2. History is riddled with guys who dominated at the youth international level that couldn't put it together at the senior level. The playing time thing hurts him, but I don't see how he's anything other than a late game offensive sub right now.
  3. Oh yeah. Not as much of a B team as us, but that was not their best XI
  4. This is a really solid result for this group. Very encouraging stuff, but it was evident where the class was on the pitch when Benny and Charlie came on. BTW, Davies needs a nickname.
  5. Nice finish by Santino, great combo by Davies and Benny.
  6. This game has been exciting
  7. Upon further watching, Quaranta could be interesting if he lays off the coke and booze. Rogers is getting beaten around the pitch like teams try and beat Clint around. That's a good sign. His decision making is solid. Bradley's sub patterns still need to improve. I like Marshall as CB depth.
  8. The only interesting things about the Gold Cup have been Robbie Rogers and Kyle Beckerman. Freddy isn't very good.
  9. I'll bet she was a psych major or something.
  10. Awful? He's Elton Brand minus the blocks. uhmmmmm, this is not true. What's not true about it? Take away Randolph's first two years in the league when he was averaging less that 15 m/pg and their career numbers are basically identical. The only difference being that Brand's field goal % is slightly better. randolph doesnt get to the FT line, doesn't shoot a high % from the field, turns the ball over too much, plays no defense and is basically a black whole on offense no matter where he touches the ball But aside from that...
  11. AC Milan....wow. I'm impressed but wary.
  12. Seriously? It's the internet. Gallows humor is going to happen. A former athlete was killed alongside his mistress, it's a story. Swing and a miss
  13. Guys, can we please consider how Dew feels before posting stuff like that?
  14. You know what team is just horrible right now? Mexico. They beat Nicaragua 2-0 on the crappiest PK ever, and a soft goal on an undefended cross late. For most of the game, they looked like they had no ideas on how to break down a defense. Also, Carlos Vela left his ACL somewhere in short center field. He's done for 2009.
  15. Unfortunately for them, Dempsey will still be Dempsey in 2010. And probably 2014. Then factor in young guns like Mikkel Diskerud and various other next great hypes and I really don't see anyone on tonight's squad, other than Davies, ever being first or even second choice for the MNT. They're depth. Btw, where the hell is Danny Szetela? -We still need the depth, though. Who's Clint's backup? Who's Landon's? -Szetela got fat and didn't play for Brescia and I think he's hurt. EDIT: I know Torres is probably Clint's backup, but we do need the depth.
  16. This match is completely meaningless for analysis. That said, I think I rate Holden and Rogers above Adu at this point. One of Holden and Rogers will be the Dempsey of 2010. I like Holden's pedigree and poise, and Robbie has some jukes.
  17. WTF Santino Quaranta is only 24? I forgot he was even in the player pool, but good for him. I hope Bradley sticks with the 4-4-2 and uses this to develop depth and doesn't go all 4-3-2-1 and plugs random players everywhere.
  18. Landon makes Goldenballs look like a complete prick in that excerpt. Gotta say I like it.
  19. -WTF, Clint is being linked with a move to Everton. I don't know how to feel about that. Actually...I do know how I feel about it, and I don't like it. Fulham is perfect for him-he starts all the time, he's gonna be in Europe, the coach likes him, the fans love him. I wouldnt want him at a bigger club simply for the sake of the name and then having him ride pine. -WTFx2 @ Ribery wanting a move to Real. I want that team to suck so badly next year.
  20. He needs matches. He was walking around the pitch after about the 55th in every game. Word last week was that Fulham was asking for a loan with option to buy. I don't know that I feel happy about that. I wish some of our guys would go to Serie A, honestly. Or that some mid-table La Liga side would pick him up. Charlie Davies should go somewhere to play as well other than [expletive] Norway. Oh, and Edgar Castillo is going to follow Jermaine Jones and declare for the US. Which is good-the Confed Cup highlighted our need for quality depth.
  21. I posted this before, but as long as we have a deep run in the Gold Cup, this won't matter. They won't ban Mikey more than 5 unless he forkstabbed Larrionda. And if he did that, he should be an American hero, frankly.
  22. One other thing I can't believe I'm about to say...If we had Brian Ching to bring on at about minute 60, I think we win. Jozy was gassed and Ching is terrific at hold up play.
  23. 2-0 going in at the half, you knew Brasil would come out firing. It we could have lasted through the first 5 minutes, I think they get frustrated and press. We just ran out of gas. The back 4 looked completely rattled for the final 20, and a lot of that was the failure of central midfield to hold the ball. Which might have been different with Mikey/Clark and then Benny coming in.
  24. Truth. With some rest for some guys, and hopefully some emerging depth this month at the GC, I think we can win there.
  25. We had that one, but the last 45 showcased why we need more depth. 2-2 and we bring on Bornstein and Sacha. No Mikey, no Edu hurt them depth wise. Adu and Torres out of form and favor, respectively. Could hold the middle, couldn't keep them from running at Spector. Bradley waited too long to sub his guys again. A consistent pattern he keeps refusing to learn from. However, we had no class left to put on the pitch. Howard misplayed the second, great effort by Lucio on the winner. Losing like that stings like hell, but a lot to be proud of. -Davies, I think, has earned that support strikers role, and hopefully will keep improving. He missed some golden opportunities yet showed some quality -Deuce, scoring again, and played well. Solid effort, even when clearly gassed. Quality finish and created some chances. -Donovan played the best 5 games I've seen him play, ever. Full credit to him. He was a beast. -I'd really like for someone to push Howard. I'm not convinced.
