  1. Do you think it would've been smart for us to give Aramis something like, just ballparking here, 4/52-56? Not necessarily, but I think we could get creative enough with a contract and find a solution that didn't rely on the pile of crap we have in the minors to possibly recreate his production via some platoon that likely will suck.
  2. Platoons usually have a way of not working out in our favor. I also happen to think the fact that we're a major market team should mean we should strive for better than "close-ish"
  3. Perfectly reasoned, however. I guess...I have my doubts about our ability to replicate his production.
  4. Love the Zambrano response. Hate the Aramis response.
  5. If we make no attempt to keep him I'll be so, so pissed off.
  6. I'm crossing my fingers that this ends up like the last time his contract was up, and he gives us a team friendly 2-3 year deal
  7. Between his terrible play and his calling out of his (better) teammates, he'd better be gone next year. Waste of money by the league.
  8. RSL-SEA deserves to be one of the ESPN games. These are the two best teams in the league, and RSL at home just tears ish up.
  9. Wow, Robin van Persie is off the chain like eggs Tyrone. He scores 3 and Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-3 at the Shed.
  10. Choke job extraordinaire by Texas.
  11. Meh, let these rubes have their moment. We've going to be better than them for the next decade.
  12. That's such a [expletive] outside corner.
  13. Sometimes it's just meant to be
  14. So this is what a pitching staff choking away a series looks like. I had forgotten.
  15. TT pretty much laid out the best case scenario for this offseason. Pujols, Wilson, Sizemore and reupping Aramis and Wood would be amazing. I have to think that Ramirez, between his oft stated desire (last 6 weeks of posturing notwithstanding) to finish his career here and the fact that he's taken below market value for the Cubs once before, would be amenable to a team-friendly extension. Maybe that's me being naive, but that's the sense I get from him. The fact that we just assembled the superfriends in the front office can't hurt from the whole "wanting to win" angle.
  16. Someone rub Beltre's head
  17. Lewis got hosed on a couple pitches in the prior AB too
  18. Nice neck tattoo, Yadi.
  19. Remember Michael Parkhurst? Please explain to me if I'm crazy, but the difference between Michael Parkhurst and Tim Ream is that Parky is right footed, about 2 inches shorter than Ream, as good with the ball and WAY WAY better at defending. And he plays for Nordjesjalaand. He would never get a sniff at the EPL. Let alone Arsenal. Is this because Ream plays with Henry? The left footed thing isn't that big a deal. The big knocks on Parkhurst were pace and the fact that he was an MLS-best defender in MLS 1.0 when the league wasn't nearly as competitive, and when he had a great team all around him. As a CB, the left-footedness of Ream shouldn't really matter all that much. Ream hasn't developed at all beyond "wow, he's calm on the ball". He's an atrocious defender against pace, size, strength...he's not good, and I cannot fathom what Arsenal would see in him that they couldn't find in a thousand different players elsewhere. Slow, calm on the ball, soft, gets caught ballwatching...meh. I guess at 24 he could still develop and mature, but his ceiling is Geoff Cameron.
  20. There's no easy way to get there from anywhere in Chicagoland. That said, at that price I'm probably going to do that at some point. Yeah, how did Toyota Park get built with no access from the Metra or the L? Let's fill a 22,000 capacity stadium with parking lots and a single pace bus! Did those people move on to make decisions at the Daily Herald? They were actually going to build the stadium near US Cellular where they ended up putting condos instead. It would have been walking distance from the El and a fantastic location overall. The city wouldn't give AEG/Fire the same deal on bonds that Bridgeview offered, ie Bridgeview offered to front pretty much all the money while Chicago wanted to share the burden with the Fire, as at the time MLS was not nearly as stable as it is now. Peter Wilt had no choice but to accept the Bridgeview offer. Then, when Chicago was bidding for the Olympics, Mayor Daley intended on using the federal infrastructure dollaz that he would have received as part of a winning bid to extend the CTA out in a couple places, including Bridgeview. Obviously that never happened, so we're stuck with a really nice stadium that you have to drive down to the bitter end of Harlem Ave to get to. It might as well be on the moon.
  21. Apparently Dallas thought it would be bright to run every single attack down the opposite side of their best player. Balls.

  23. New York sucks. FCD losing this game would set the game of soccer in America back approx 123 years (estimated) Tim Ream is an incompetent defender. He's gotten worked, been caught ballwatching and is just not good at playing defense, tracking runners or playing defense. If we're hellbent on a center back that can build from the back, Geoff Cameron needs some burn. Dallas has no one at all in the center of the field that can create.
