  1. Refs=incompetent. Also, F me on that Cutler tweet from Abbatacola.
  2. Thank you, referees for not blowing the play dead and causing that whole shitshow.
  3. Sigh....Chicago sports are perpetually infuriating.
  4. Long is going to get thrown out for kicking someone..
  5. If tomorrow's game is like tonight's game, it will have been one of the best weekends in MLS in a long while. And my sense is that down 0-2 at home, Portland is going to come out guns blazing. I except extra time in that one. I'm going to go 3-3, with RSL winning on PKs.
  6. That was the most I've seen Benny care in a game since June of 2010. He was everywhere on the field.
  7. This Houston/KC game tonight has been a complete joy. Fantastic fight and a great crowd.
  8. Make sure to factor in the fact that his advisors probably won't let him take the court until he's mentally ready. And I don't even think I'm being snarky...any planning toward what to do or expect for the rest of the season is completely in limbo.
  9. The second-worst thing about this is that the odds of hearing from that ass-stain Reggie just went up.
  10. Come the [expletive] on. We couldn't have topped that stellar offer?
  11. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  12. Best case, you end up in Switzerland or Columbia's group. Worst case is probably Germany. ETA: the order in which you play the teams is going to matter, too. If you do draw into a group with Brasil or Germany, you want to play them third; conversely, if you draw Ghana, you want them first, and any of the other African sides third.
  13. No, I absolutely want them either in the group or in the R16 again. I so very badly want to see the US just stomp them.
  14. Bosnia - Lowest ranking They moved France into the special pot.
  15. Some website had a draw simulator that I tried a couple times yesterday. The first group I got was: Spain Ghana USA England Which would be amazingly difficult and awesome.
  16. France the beneficiary of another blown call at home in a WCQ playoff...
  17. Yeesh, Ronaldo, don't hurt 'em. I really, really hope they don't end up in our group. Gonzo and Besler would need therapy after the game.
  18. You do realize if they made no moves the team would have been...a year older than last year's team.
  19. If he just took them and did not win? Probably. Just like Grossman, or just like Philly did with McNabb, or just like just about any fan base would do with a 30 year old QB who has not yet won them a Super Bowl. There are Steelers fans who kind of hate Big Ben right now and lots of NY people wanting to dump Manning. Unless you are among the best of the best and can back it up with the stats, you are going to run afoul with fan bases across the league. It is not a Chicago thing. Philly fans were stupid then, and Chicago fans were stupid then as well. Their logic is inconsistent and hypocritical. The "All that matters is that the team is winning" logic ends (regardless of whether or not the winning ends) the instant the drum beat of stupid starts against a guy. Its obnoxious. I did say that it was a "sports fans in general" thing, fwiw.
  20. I don't see what Chicago has to do with it. It is universal that large portions of a fan base will both be hung up on predetermined storylines about a player, and will blame the QB disproportionately for all struggles prior to winning a super bowl. The backup QB is the most popular player on a team is a saying that has held true for decades, by all fan bases. You and I have talked about this before, IIRC. Chicago fans eat their own; they gobble up any idiot narrative our idiot media wants to assemble and would never change their minds. If Cutler took them to a Superbowl they'd still bitch about him.
  21. I wish I could say I didn't understand why they can't just be happy we have a capable backup and still accept that Cutler is a lot better at playing QB, but I do understand. Chicago sports fans in general and Bears fans in particular are idiots.
  22. Callaspo is one year removed from back to back 3 win seasons (well, 2.9 and 3.5)... I wouldn't exactly term $4.9M or whatevver a waste of money. We can easily get surplus value out of him alone. It depends how much salary we take on; as a percentage of our overall available payroll, I'd rather that $4-5m go somewhere more impactful than on a guy who at best we're just going to try and flip in June. ETA: A large part of that feeling is being sick of only looking forward to who we might be able to sell off for more attrition-rich prospects.
  23. Are we supposed to get excited over some reliever from OAK, who, as condition of trading for, comes with a waste of money in Alberto Callaspo attached? If they're just going to spend the money poorly, why even spend it? Just to say you did?
