  1. Yeah...ok. You can't have guys who can OPS .800+ against righties on your team! you're missing a major part of the point. jones would be fine if used properly. the problem is that lou, just like dusty, refuses to do so. that .800 OPS doesn't mean much when it comes along with a terrible line against lefties (that gives a combined OPS of 730 - that's a 92 OPS+ as of this morning). I was refuting the DFA proposal. If we suggest DFA we are assuming we are taking the role of GM. If we are GM we could also talk to our field manager about playing time of youngsters rather than outright releasing someone.
  2. Yeah...ok. if he can't trade him, and lou decides to pull a dusty and let the "proven veteran" play while the good, promising young player rides the pine, i would much rather see jones DFA'd than be on the roster. I'm sure a nice talk could resolve the problem more than throwing out good production, when used right. Hendry probably won't have that talk, though. Lou is probably more wise to the numbers than Hendry.

  7. David DeJesus mighta been enough to get that one
  8. Whoever wrote his wikipedia page calls his curveball a "power-curveball"
  9. That breaking ball low and away made both Ramirez and Lee look REAL bad
  10. Oof, Lee just missed a HR to straightaway center, caught on the warning track
  11. the bump on the head made him forget about his hammy
  12. Breakdown of pitches seen thus far Floyd 3 - Flyout to left Barrett 1 - Single to left

  16. Not terrible, though. He shouldnt have a problem settling in. 1-2-3
  17. God bless you. Good god is Hester fast..... Devin Hester you are ridiculous! Joniak is becoming an amazing play by play guy. On a side note, my buddy dvr'd the bears first pick and what the espn guys were saying about the bears and the pick, and drew r. celebrating a pick early. I almost threw something at the tv, listening to Steve Young criticizing the bears and grossman, and saying they should pick a qb. What a joke!!!! This coming from a guy who was known as a bust for his first 8 seasons, and was terrible in his first couple years as a starter(as a buc of course). Steve Young, Second Year with the Buccaneers(4th season as a pro), first full season as a starter. 195 363 53.7 2282 6.3 8 13 | Rex Grossman, Fourth Year with the Bears, first full season as a starter 262 480 54.6 3193 6.7 23 20 I definitely still get your point, but that was only Young's 3rd season in the league. By his 4th year he was in SF. Also, you failed to mention that Young put up 425 yards rushing with 5 TD's, compared to Grossman's 2 yards rushing and 0 TD's. Actually it was only his second in the NFL. He played two years in the USFL. He was montana's backup for four years. What does running statistic have to do with how well a quarterback performed? And before you answer, ask yourself whether before this question was posted you thought Mike Vick is a good quarterback or not? I think a rate stat - YPC - would better tell the story. It just tells the story overall effectiveness of being able to move the ball. His 5.74 YPC in his 2nd year prove to be a decent alternative to his passing, but nothing special.
  18. Agreed, I think the Chris Walker idea mentioned earlier in this thread seems like the best idea. On top of everything, Jacque has looked particularly strong in CF, so Pie's marginal value over Jones defensively isn't that great, either.
  19. Igawa is not getting moved Reasons 1) Just signed - can't be traded at all until some date like 6/15 without approval, right? 2) Money left on contract - a lot 3) Present value - very low
