  1. I must be blind -- where's the link to today's videos?
  2. a lot of the others called up this season weren't on the 40-man either
  3. one of Dempster's pitches looked like it went to left field
  4. when do all of these super high draft picks finally pay off for the D-Rays?
  5. Huh, I thought he started pitching in 2000 for Hanshin. Damn. he did, 19 games
  6. Are there any good sites that you could provide that cover Japanese baseball? http://www.japanesebaseball.com/
  7. are you feeling a bit like Harry Doyle at the beginning of Major League?
  8. OH NOES! NOW SSR IZ GOIN TO SKOOL
  9. Especially from NY teams. Hopefully Kerry Wood pitches at some point during the game. Any chance Hee-Seop Choi could make an appearance? Maybe Eric Karros instead? Is Choi still in baseball anymore? Every time I see his name mentioned, I'm still awestruck at the fact that we were able to trade him away to a major league team to get Derrek Lee in return, straight up. A lot of people were against that trade. yes, they're called Marlins fans
  10. I love the unintentional humor this thread has provided
  11. So a deal for someone like a Griffey is not out of the question yet! It's doubtful but that's what makes this game so fun it's the you never know situations. It's very possible. The higher profile guys are less likely to bring as good of a return after 7/31 because the players going back have to clear waivers as well. In other words, even if Teixeira cleared waivers for the Braves, somebody would have claimed Saltalamacchia before Texas had a chance. I don't think cash is a consideration either. So a deal for Griffey pre-7/31 could have been something like Pie+Marshall+Veal for Griffey+cash whereas a post-7/31 deal would look more like Coats+Mateo+Nannini for Griffey. Not a good return, but it would get them out from under Griffey's really bad contract.

  13. They're paying $5.5M of his 2007 salary.
  14. They've had some recent successes against Glavine, but he's sporting a 3.64 career ERA, a WHIP around 1.2, and a record slightly over 500. I wouldn't say that's owning him.
  15. Especially from NY teams. I think their ineptitude against lefties could very well trump this long-standing and storied trend. Glavine is a strange lefty though. I think lefties hit better off him, which may give the Cubs a chance. He hasn't owned them in recent years the way most lefties have. lefties have a slightly higher BA and OBP but lower SLG. the OPS is equal
