  1. I think I've mentioned before that baseball ends for me when the Cubs are done, and I have never in my life watched a World Series game. Prior to this season, the last playoff game I even saw parts of was game 4 of the ALCS in 2004.
  2. I watched all of game 1, 6 innings of game 2
  3. We got swept in that series too didn't we? you're missing the point -- Enrique knew the stadium the rest of the team blew it for him
  4. I really like the idea of Pie and Murton in the OF with Soto behind the plate, a rotation that includes Hill and possibly Marshall, a bench that includes Theriot and Fontenot, and a bullpen with Marmol and maybe a guy like Hart. That's a lot of payroll cleared up for a SS upgrade. I don't see alot of payroll being cleared up. They owe an additional 20 mil worth of salary to Z, Soriano, Ramirez, Lilly, Marquis, and Derosa compared to '07. That's more than salaries of the FAs that would leave. They'd have to unload salary to take on additional salary. They already have to have a large increase to keep a somewhat similar roster, adding someone like Renteria/Tejada, without them taking on salary doesn't seem like it fits. Which is unfort. b/c this team is still one (great/Arod) to 3 (good) players from becoming good enough to contend. I'm referring more toward dedicating payroll to those guys vs spending 2-10 million at each position for some marginal veteran presence.
  5. that's a trick question -- they'll both be equally fresh

  7. awesome work lou. take out our one guy who has showed up. you gotta rest a catcher after playing 2 straight days
  8. he did DFA Rusch after he nearly died
  9. Baseball season always ends for me when the Cubs season ends. I don't think I have ever watched a World Series game, and that's no joke.
  10. Depends on what you mean by "back" but, in theory, yes. I think what we'll likely see next year is him topping out around 88-90 when he first gets back and eventually getting up to around 93. I'd like to see him add a little movement to that FB to make up for the loss of velocity, but I think he'll ultimately be OK if his command is back.
  11. 6 months just to get back to normal (by normal I mean full range of motion like you and me). Probably at least 3-4 more months beyond that for conditioning and then another 3-4 months to get back to MLB pitching shape.
  12. it's a dangerous situation for the Dodgers -- more youngsters coming in means more have to go, right?
  13. To add to this point just a bit, extensive experience playing the game also softens reactions like Lilly's quite a bit. I'm sure we've all seen much worse so many times -- I didn't think twice about the glove throw. I've seen guys throw their glove out of the field of play and then casually stroll out to get it, mumbling and cussing the whole way. I've seen guys drop their equipment and walk off the field, never to return to the team. Had this been game 2 of the season instead of game 2 of the LDS, this is more of an "issue".
  14. so when Zambrano breaks a bat over his knee?
  15. maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think an extension works that way That's what I'm not clear about. Isn't the old contract torn up for a new one? I believe so. I think the extension is a new contract replacing the old in the number of years and dollars the player is signed, not just an amendment to the current contract.
  16. maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think an extension works that way
  17. This thread has become comical. Sure his reaction may be a bit childish, but it was pure human emotion.
  18. I want to see this 162 times next season
  19. only if he signs with someone else before the deadline
  20. FAMILY LOVE DYLAN DIARY
  21. that's why the chicks don't like you
  22. You don't bad mouth a two-way superstar like Kenny Weikel without paying the piper, brah. Kenny heard what he said and went straight to the coach and was like "Hey coach, did you hear what this kid said about me? You gonna do something about it? I'm Kenny m-soapdropping Weikel and you'd better do something or I'm going to the boosters to get your ass fired." Coach was all like "Calm down, Kenny. You know you're my guy. Consider MurtonFan's ass, grass." That's how I heard it went down anyway. Great story. What really happened is that I didn't like the way the coaches coached. I didn't like how they acted like football was more important than grades or school. What good athlete makes grades. Everyone knows athletes are given grades. Seriously. I was a 3.5 student in high school, when I PLAYED FOOTBALL. Now at college, where I don't play sports, I'm merely a C/B- student. College isn't hard or anything, and I didn't get dumber, so obviously it was the grades that were GIVEN to me. and you don't get paid as much if you're not playing sports
