    Out of curiosity, does that mean the Cubs have actually played under their pythag record for the year? Yup...the Cubs are presently 2 games below their pythag. are they still the only team in the division playing below? I'm far too lazy to check, and I know you have nothing better to do

    Neal Cotts is a good example of why you shouldn't give out contracts like the one Scott Eyre got. I don't know how "high" his value is, but he remains a decent cheap option for the bullpen for the next couple of seasons.

    Unless you are talking about counting stats like HR and RBI, I highly doubt it. Lee 07: .317/.400/.513/.913 Lee 08: .289/.353/.467/.820 Not sure where to look up vorp or eqa but I'd venture a guess that those are significantly higher in 07 as well. Either way, it would take a historic month of September to get him up to his 07 numbers. 2007 EqA: 298 2008 EqA: 278 2007 VORP: 48.6 2008 VORP: 25.1

    Yeah, Cirillo has been working on the Brewers Live pre/post-game shows for about a year and a half now. He definitely struggles with the in-studio stuff...reading off a teleprompter is obviously not his thing. When they just let him talk baseball, however, he's actually pretty fun to listen to. I'd love it if he would eventually replace Bill Schroeder as the Brewers' color analyst, because I feel like he has a lot more baseball knowledge than Schroeder, and he's less likely to say something stupid. Back when Cirillo was still playing, they let him in the booth when he was on the DL with a broken wrist, and he was great helping with commentary. Really, they need to get him out of the studio. Davey Nelson is another guy who knows a ton about the game, but struggles with the post-game shows because he has a hard time articulating what he's thinking. Schroeder is beyond terrible. my favorite part of the telecasts are when Coshun interviews some random old guy from the Brewers dugout who's wearing a uniform immediately following the game
