I'm not sure if I've shared the story here or not, but here goes. I think it was 2022 the Cubs were playing in Baltimore, and I had yet to go to a game there. I was going to be in DC so perfect, I'll make the drive. It gets rained out and rescheduled for August. Turns out I was going to be back in the area so my ticket is still good. YAY!
Anywho, after everyone is done warming up before the game Seiya throws a ball into the stands and it lands right in my lap. I have never been close to getting a ball at any level past little league, and anyone who knows me knows that. So I grab my phone to get a quick pic to prove it then hand it to a kid in front of me who's probably like 7 or 8. I was overwhelmed by the look on his face and the gratitude of his father.
What I didn't know in that moment was his older brother caught a ball during BP and was taunting his little brother for probably a good half hour, so when I gave the kid the ball he ran right to his older brother to show it off. The older one was devastated. I know the Cubs won the game that day, but I think we all know I was the real winner.
