  1. Haha, in other news, the Giants have scored 4 runs in the 8th to lead the Brewers 6-5 I want to keep pushing Milwaukee back. Let's get rid of the pretenders, we still have to play them.
  2. The Mets lose. The only good thing about this is thw Cubs pick up a game on them (and the Nationals of course).
  3. And I'm a rich man.... well, I could buy two pints with it  Congrats
  4. The National lost 4-3 to the Marlins Beckett wins his 10th game for the first time in his career.
  5. Wow, I was watching the Crapstros but I will check out the archive when that game ends. As will I. I was listening to the Angels (I have a bet on) @ the Yankees, switch for the last out of the Braves win and am now on to the Marlins vs. the Nationals. I stand to win a HUGE £4.49 if the Marlins come through. The Marlins are one strike away but there is a runner aboard.
  6. Because there was an open base and they would have walked him... Yeah, I know I'm late responding but better late than never.
  7. I disagree about Aramis batting for Macias. Macias' at bat was key because they would have walked Rammy if he had been brought up at that point. Once Macias reached it was also smart not to go with Aramis again (Barrett was the smart choice). Michael is faster and was better equipped to break up a potential DP. Today, Dusty made all the right moves late in the game and most importantly, the guys executed.

  9. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???    Benson walks the leadoffman then Ensberg hits a 2 run homer. 5-2 Disgusting I hate the Crawford boxes
  10. I say Wandy gives up some runs. This is ridiculous. The good news is that both the Nats and Braves (yes, still have an eye on them) are losing. It should be bad news if the Braves are losing. I want them to win the NL East, so we won't have to overtake them and the Nats for the Wild Card. Wandy just walked Beltran and Floyd and is currently 1-0 on Wright. In truth, I want the Braves to win the East as well but I dont want them to be cocky about it! They just got off a series where they swept the Nats ; this after Andruw Jones brazenly stated, before the series, that the Braves would not lose a game to Washington at home. They have to be pretty confident right now. Frankly, I dont want any one team (outside of the Cubs) getting too confident. 3-2 Now Edit:Braves now leading 2-1 over the Pirates

  12. Does it really matter as long as they win? I understand your point, dont get me wrong but if you look around at the teams in the NL that have won some big games lately it seems a lot of teams are pulling games out in their last at bat. Whatever it takes to win.
  13. I'm late but Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
  14. Boooo, an unearned run Actually, is that earned? He wouldn't have scored if the error hadn't moved him to 3rd.
  15. BLANCO homers on the 11th pitch of the at bat. BEAUTIFUL!
  16. If true, we'll probably see the Oompaa, Loompaa at third today. Yes, Macias is playing 3rd today
  17. 20 million dollar, I need my days off, Manny? I'll pass Career 1.007 OPS, first time since 98 not in top 7 in MLB, Manny? I'll accept. People are so picky. Who cares if he can run, catch, throw, asks out of a game.....he's an elite offensive force? I agree with your arguments, Raw. However, I can see no way that Manny is brought to the Cubs. Management spent an entire offseason cleaning out the "distractions" from the roster. Bringing Manny in would be an obvious about face for the organization. Manny is the embodiment of a distraction, and this organization has invested quite a bit of ridding the dugout of such characters. I don't either. However, to completely dismiss one of the top hitters in the game because he asked for a day off is not right. I've never seen so many people make petty excuses NOT to want a top flight offensive player. It has nothing to do with just having day off. He wasn't willing to help a teammate and by extension, he was less willing to help his team... It is not the first time. Plus, he constantly tells the media he wants to be traded during a crucial stretch of games. It's hard to argue that he isn't a distraction. Besides, I'm playing the devil's advocate. It would be a HUGE upgrade for the Cubs but it's not a bed of roses.

Who cares if he can run, catch, throw, asks out of a game.....he's an elite offensive force? We dont need an all star at every position. That being said, if he were a Cub I'd love him but be would be making double of any other player on the team. I imagine that would cause some problems with the dynamics already in place. Also, I wonder how much of a team player he really is? Production is fantastic but if he's constantly being a pain in the side is it really worth it? The Red Sox are a different kind of team with lots of loose cannons; he fits in well there. Conversely, the Cubs seem to have a lot of guys who do their best work under the radar. Finally, I know he wants to be traded but realistically, why would Boston honor this now? They would lose a huge chunk of offense during a time when they are making a playoff run of their own.

  20. I totally agree. Everytime a player is suggested here he is picked apart. Soriano is a good player. No, he isn't perfect, but he is possibly the best option out there. I don't know who people expect us to get. Do we want to improve the team or do we want to wait for some mythical flawless player to appear so we can aquire him? Are the Mets tired of Beltran yet? I'm thinking a change of scenery would do him some good. If we could get a three way going that lands us Beltran, I'd be all over it. I'm not at all interested in Beltran. what exactly has he done to prove he's worth the cash??? He's not leaving the Mets anyway...
  21. The Cubs have plenty of games left with the Astros including 7 of the last 9 games of the season. Plus, the Cubs play them August 15-17 in Houston. I'm sure the talk will increase... right now, the Cubs have to take care of their own business. Oh yeah, the Astros don't scare me. For all their winning, the Cubs are only 3 back.
