  1. I got to see Harden pitch in person twice this year and he was horrible both times. I was really excited when they traded for him, but boy has he been up and down this year. Sucks.
  2. I'm not focusing on it just because it went against us, and I don't think it cost us the game (surely not any more than giving up a kickoff return for a score and an unforced fumble in our own territory did). I posted it because no one in the supposedly pro-ND media is running with the story and otherwise no one else would know about it, and also to emphasize how shady refs have been and continue to be at UM (for no reason I can think of, ND/UM is the only contract I know of in college football where the home team gets to pick the refs). The selection of officials is part of any contract that is signed when teams play OOC games. The teams can stipulate to where the crews come from, leave it up to the home team, seek other conference crews, etc. Smaller schools probably have less say in this. I know the LSU-Washington game was done by Pac-10 refs as LSU allowed that in the contract. So, I don't think ND/UM is the only one. It may be a rare case; that I can't speak. I'm sure it happens sometimes and others not. I don't know the frequency though. That's true. But UM doesn't allow anyone other than Big 10 refs do games in Ann Arbor. So if you're going to play a home and home with Michigan, you get Big 10 refs.
  3. I'm most definitely not looking past Michigan. But I don't feel nearly as uneasy about next week's game against MSU as I did 4 hours ago.
  4. I dont know why but this has the feel of the game 3 or 4 years ago when ND was favored and Michigan just came off their 6-6 season. ND fans seem a little over confident about this one. what makes this feel like that game?
  5. wait, who's your team again?
  6. you're looking at Northern Iowa, UNI, not Northern Illinois, NIU, right? I'm assuming you are, but you keep getting the letters reversed, so I thought I'd check.
  7. Of course, Iowa drops 15 spots, and Ohio State drops 2 spots after barely beating an arguably worse team. Navy's a solid team. Yeah, Navy's got some good talent and that triple option can be a difficult offense to defend. There's no comparison to Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa would have a good to great chance at beating Navy. Just because they're an FCS team doesn't mean they suck. good to great? so if they played 10 times, UNI would win more than half? I just don't think that's true.
  8. That seems like a minimal difference, brought down dramatically by removing Reyes from the equation this year. It seems likely that 2B on average are better offensively than SS, but moving an average-at-best defensive SS to 2B, where his defense should be better than average, really doesn't have a significant negative impact on the offense, in and of itself. Isn't the question more of who the new SS is replacing? Isn't Theriot at 2B and Reyes at SS (for example) better than Theriot-Fontenot/Baker? Seems likely to be better both offensively and defensively. Why do we care about league averages, when there are specific players being discussed?
  9. I hate Michigan
  10. Of course, Iowa drops 15 spots, and Ohio State drops 2 spots after barely beating an arguably worse team. Navy's a solid team.
  11. Was it third string at that point? I don't have any problem with running basic, straight ahead runs to get backup and 3rd string OL and RB some experience.
  12. They're finally mostly Jrs and Srs. Though 2 of the best players on the field at their respective positions (Floyd and Rudolph) are still just sophomores. But even then, the jump from freshman to sophomore is significant. I'm really high on this season after watching a fast Tenuta blitz scheme shut out Nevada and the OL hold off 2 very good DEs.
  13. sucker punching after the game may not be part of the game. But neither is after the game taunting. I strongly disagree that less obvious punching hasn't been part of football for...well, maybe ever. It's a matter of degrees. He went to far, but so did the taunter.
  14. are you really comparing your reaction at work to a football field? if you tackled an employee of your competitor on the street, that probably wouldn't be accepted either.
  15. He may or may not be average, but are defensive metrics suddenly irrefutable proof of anything?
  16. ND's playing probably 6 bowl teams this year, including the Pac-10 and Big East favorites. It amazes me that, as an ND fan, you're perpetuating this "our schedule is so weak" crap. I expect it from ESPN and talking heads, but seriously, do you really want to play 8 conference champs every year?
  17. I love seeing the official depth chart for the first game. I'm excited for this season.
  18. I love a coach that places cans around the weight room for players to puke in when they should be studying.
  19. Sorry if the thread title offends, you. or you could just get over yourself. or not. its your choice. Never happen. The one thing that is a constant on this board are the attack poodles that come to the defense of Soriano and Bradley to no end. Let them bring it. Attack poodles? You're just trolling at this point.
  20. I believe some stay within the limits or very close to them. I doubt many go this far overboard. I love that current and former players are turning on him so quickly. BTW - why do you suppose he was shredding all those player records at WVU?
  21. poorly? Well that's just ignorant. I'll rephrase mediocrely? Are you just bored?
  22. poorly? I wouldn't want him back on my team or anything but he did put in a lot of effort. There was a point that it looked like he should be playing and wasn't. You didn't hear complaining from him about it. He just took his opportunities when he could and was quiet about it. I thought there were quite a few quotes about him being disappointed about the lack of opportunities. I read an article today that had a quote from him about there being a lack of opportunities, but it was matter of fact, not whining. I don't think he's probably thrilled to be OPS'ing .900 in AAA for the 3rd time. Would you expect him to be thrilled about it?
  23. It happens too frequently to not have at least tacit approval. If Lou wasn't an idiot about bunting, he would tell the whole team every game "hey dumbasses, quit bunting in the first inning." Since they keep doing it, I have to assume it's on his sign or at least they have the ok to do it.
  24. 35 HRs? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bradlmi01.shtml Why in the world? In the season in which he played the most games, he didn't hit 20. Last year, playing 126 games a lot at DH, and with Texas as his home park he only hit 22.
