  1. Meyer raids ND for the OL and RB coach, one native of Ohio, the other one of Meyer's best friends. Not ideal timing, but 2 days to fill jobs before recruiting crunch time.
  2. Source? Or just trolling? I thought Backtobanks was a decent poster. #-o I really don't see any combination of players that I would want from the Marlins. Maybe they will take Zambrano and Soriano with Garza. Before he just had the annoying 3-way trade proposals, but he is trending more and more toward annoying troll every day. I can't believe you guys don't get sarcasm without highlighting it in green. I was making fun of all of the "breaking news" posts on exactly when and to whom the Garza trade was happening. How was anyone supposed to know your post was "sarcasm" as it was written?
  3. Only if God, John Lennon, Thom Yorke, and the Bum are unavailable.
  4. So are you admitting you think PSU is too good for Saban? That's the implication of your last sentence. I simply love that you think bolding the only important part of your post places additional emphasis on it that wasn't inherent. I know what your post says and the implication is clear. You've yet to affirmatively deny my reading so I assume I was right.
  5. yeah, i can't figure out if GR is trolling or just is unable to connect the dots himself. -nick saban is regarded as a snake oil salesman. he's repeatedly committed himself to coaching jobs, only to leave them soon after when another offer comes along. obviously if he ditched alabama for a lucrative offer, he'd add another mark to this record. -ped state (see what i did there?) has been accused by many people of putting the football program and money ahead of the public embarrassment of a former coach being a child molester. hiring a coach whose ethics have been widely questioned, and hiring him for an unheard-of salary, would obviously be taken as "business as usual, college football is king" by the critics. Yeah, it's me. I'm trolling or I'm stupid. Just me...and sneaky. Me and sneaky...and ssr. Me, sneaky, ssr, and jersey are trolling or too stupid. Me, sneaky, ssr, jersey, and sponge...among the people that are trolling and too stupid to read your posts are me, sneaky, ssr, jersey, sponge...and even ccp who admitted that your post could be read as I read it. Maybe if you had used more bold.
  6. Not really. PSU cannot afford the public perception problems that they're once again putting football ahead of ethics if they hired somebody like Saban. He's just not the right fit for them at this time with their public image so fragile. That doesn't mean they're too good for him, or that they wouldn't love to hire someone like him at another time. BTW that effectively says that PSU is too good for Saban. Not bc he's a bad coach but bc of his reputation. But that's a meaningless distinction. That's the thing. It's not only because of Saban's reputation. It's Saban's reputation+PSU's issues. If either part of the equation wasn't true, they would want to hire him. So while saying PSU is too good for Saban if they refused to hire him might technically be a true statement, it's horribly misleading. That statement would be interpreted in 2 primary ways. The first is PSU thinks they could find a better football coach than Saban, and the second is that they think they are morally superior to Saban. Neither is true in this case, which makes that statement a very bad summation. I do agree with that I don't know how tarnished Saban's reputation is among college football fans right now. The real question though is what the media would write about it because they could change a lot of minds I think the media would question Saban's sanity for leaving maybe the best job in cfb for PSU.
  7. No. He said a team with integrity issues wouldn't throw millions at Nick Saban (with bold). Clear implication is Saban's negative reputation isn't suitable for PSU.
  8. Saban is looked at like the devil because he's jumped from program to program, not because he allowed an assistant coach to use the facilities to recruit rape victims. The public perception problems at PSU aren't going to be fixed by hiring some no name guy who will always toe the line. I don't see how these things are related. That's a good point. He's probably looked at as a devil in LSU (maybe) and Miami, but I don't think the majority of American cfb fans gives a [expletive] about Saban's career choices. He's the king of over-signing and there have been numerous kids coming out talking about how they were forced into medical hardships to open up scholarships for better players. He's a sleaze ball. I would hope any Big Ten/Pac 12/ND university would stay far away from a coach like him. I don't agree that his reputation is widely tarnished among most cfb fans. But this is all beside the point that truffle thinks PSU is too good to hire him.
  9. Dustin Diamond tickles it in just the right spot.
  10. Hahaha

  12. Putting several words in bold isn't an explanation. Perhaps you missed that he increased the font size as well Doesn't show up on mobile
  13. Putting several words in bold isn't an explanation. Come on, man. You know what he's trying to say. PSU is going through a major scandal and hiring a coach like Nick Saban, who's looked at like the devil by everyone except Alabama fans, is probably not a good idea for PSU right now. Right. PSU is too good for Saban. Not really. PSU cannot afford the public perception problems that they're once again putting football ahead of ethics if they hired somebody like Saban. What major scandal has Saban had at Bama? Hey, I think the guy is a weasel that uses black kids for betterment of himself without any concern for their futures. But that's true of a [expletive] of cfb coaches. He oversigns, use gray shirts, and abuses medical red shirts? Isn't that basically sanctioned by the SEC now?

  18. Then explain yourself, top notch writer.
  19. You're suggesting PSU is too good to hire Nick Saban?
  20. "@NDatRivals Of course going three-and-out plays into ND's game plan of keeping its defense on the field at all times."
  21. Not watching just seeing gamecast as video is blocked at work. But weak as in it shouldn't have been ruled a fumble?
  22. Good to know we can still count on Tommy for a TO in the red zone. Dear lord.
  23. Would Madson sign up to be a setup guy for the Cubs or does he have a realistic shot at fighting for a closing gig somewhere?
  24. Link not working for anyone else? ETA: nm, worked now.
