I hate Italy but I think it was the right call, his jersey grab slowed the guy down and didnt let him have a chance at playing the ball. The Italy guy played it up like they always do but I think it was still a penalty. It was very similar to the one Gooch got against Ghana in the last World Cup.
I agree with the Walcott exclusion because England has bigger fish to fry than us, but Walcott would have absolutely murdered our back line. Yeah I can understand why Walcott was not taken, he shows flashes of brilliance but he is so inconsistent and has really not taken that next step forward over the past few years. I think I would have taken a chance on Adam Johnson though. He had a good season and he brings a little bit more creativity then SWP does.
I can not figure out why Capello would take Upson over Dawson. Dawson had an amazing season for Spurs. I also would have taken Johnson over SWP but I can understand taking the veteran player I guess.
There was a hell of a lot of good players left off of teams today. Dinho, Cambiasso, Zanetti, Nasri, Van Nilesteroy, Benzema, Frey, Mexes, Pato, Neymar, Banega, DiMaria.
No they were in already the 7th spot gets them in because Portsmouth didnt apply so the FA cup runner up is replaced by the 7th placed team which Liverpool had sewn up already.
Put it this way if on the last day of the season the Cubs had nothing to play for, but a win would help keep the Cards from winning the division would you be upset if the Cubs lost. I was not rooting for a loss, but I am not upset by it either.
Yeah, this weekend will decide the title. I think both Man U and Chelsea win at home next weekend so if Chelsea wins beats Liverpool, the title is basically theirs. Its tough to root for your team to lose, but I would much rather Chelsea win the title over United. So I wont be all that upset if Liverpool lose. They should be able to get a point out of Hull that last week to stay ahead of Everton for the final Europa league spot so a loss wouldnt hurt them that much.
The Hamburg goal vs Fulham was just nasty. Curving freekick to the top corner from about 25 yards out. Aquilani with a nice goal to put Liverpool up 1-0.
After his 3 for 4 game with a homerun and rbi, he is now on pace for 63 home runs and 153 rbis. Here are his slash rates 301/386/644/1.029 sucks that he is now so worthless.
Well Carpenter did not hit Derosa twice, he did not even face him, Wainwright hit Derosa. Also Carpenter has a 3.60 era and 27 strikeouts in 22 innings, thats hardly struggling and most those runs were given up in the one bad start he had. He has been good in his other 3 starts. On Pujols he came to the US when he was 16 not 18 so you are wrong again. As far as his hitting goes there is no doubt that he is struggling a little bit right now, but he has gone through stretches like this in the past and he will come out of it just like he did all the other times and still put up MVP type numbers again.
I am trying not to get my hopes high with Liverpool with the way they have played this year, but if they can win on Wed at the Emirates they are well within reach of catching Arsenal for the third spot.
I had no problem with the big Greek being sent off, he went in with both feet studs high. But there is no way that Fellaini should not have been sent off. Also I think that Pinnear should have been sent off a few minutes earlier, he went in studs showing and caught Mascherano up by the knee. It was a very good day for Liverpool fans though got the win vs Everton, Man City lose, and Tottenham draws vs Villa. So they picked up points on all of their competitors for 4th.
Anyone getting on Cardinal fans for giving McGwire a stading ovation needs to realize it happens everywhere. Giambi and Pettite got them in New York, Manny got it in LA, and Bonds was loved in San Francisco by their fans. Sosa may not get an ovation from Cubs fans but it is because of how he left the team. If Sandberg or Lee or someone that was loved by Cubs fans came out he would get the same treatment by Cubs fans.
I love Torres, he had one chance all day and put it in the back of the net. Not a great performance from Liverpool, but keeps them in the hunt for 4th. Also as much slack as Lucas is getting this year, I think he has been really good the last two games as is continuing to grow into a very good player. He is not as good as Alonso was, but he has been one of their better consistent players so far this year.
