  1. I never thought Garner was a good manager either. The only reason they made that late run last season was because Beltran had an amazing last month to the season and carried that into the playoffs. This season I dont care what your offense is when you have Pettitte, Clemens, and Oswalt you better make the playoffs.....this is the majors no team should be shutout as much as they did....
  2. Will if you go in the past Chicago used to be a Sox town. The Cubs will still be getting more pub and have more fans next season but this run will help the sox greatly. Especially if they make another run and the Cubs falter. One thing the Cubs dont have is the yankees history of success to fall back on when they are bad.
  3. Lol you guys are hilarious... I suggest you wear mostly Bears/Bulls gear and you will be fine until next baseball season starts.... Who knows how bad it will be but I think Wrigley is safe lol.
  4. Guzman reminds me a lot of a kid in the sox system called Honel who was really doing great 1st round pick than got injured and hasnt been the same. What kind of stuff does Guzman have and hows his control and everything. Also did he injure the same shoulder twice or different injuries?
  5. One thing to remember in that game 2 though is Buehrle was prepared to go a 10th inning while the Angels used up Donnely, Shields, and Escobar after that inning. So all they had left was Franky Rodriguez and he has been inconsistent the whole post-season and is usually only a 1 inning guy.
  6. My view on things is the sox attendence will go up a lot maybe 33,000-35,000 per game.. this season it was at 28,000..... but the cubs have a huge fanbase and a lot of them come from outside of the city where they would have no want to switch teams no matter who wins the WS. As for the local media Id say the Sox will get a lot more than last year but should be even unless 1 team is losing and the other is winning.....On ESPN the sox will get a lot of attention too but if the sox ever want to have a larger or equal fanbase to the cubs... the Cubs need to keep losing and the Sox winning.
  7. Well comparing anyone to Ken Griffey is overshooting the mark lol but the most common comparison ive heard for Young is Mike Cameron. Although he has a much higher upside. I know he broke the all time double record for our AA team which was previously held by Magglio. Also what makes it a lot more special is because just last season he was in Low A so he made a pretty significant jump. This season he only hit 24 HR's but our AA park is an extreme pitchers one and last year I remember hearing he hit 40 some so he definitely has a lot of power. His biggest problem seems to be the K's but he takes a lot of walks also which is very good. I think he is very capable of being a .280ish hitter, 30-40 HRs, 100 walks, and 20 SB player..... I think their will be a lot of comparisons with him and Pie in the future both who look like to be future all stars for long times to come.... The only OF prospect right now that Id rather have over Chris Young or Felix Pie is Delmon Young.
  8. Just so you know he said b4 the season started that the Brewers lineup was so bad he would try swinging for the fences to get the guaranteed run. But said he would take a different approach this season and just try to be on base. And while his power went down his avg. went way up. Although after seeing Sanchez and Juan Rincon caught we never really do know who takes steroids nowadays.
  9. Oh I know there were a ton of prospects on each team... I personally know a lot about the Birminham team but was just wondering if there was kind of a small rivalry considering they were future white sox and cubs.... Also mentioned Young and Pie because those 2 are the ones with the highest ceilings but I know Jenks has helped the Sox this season and Im pretty sure I remember seeing Hill with the cubs. And a course Murton...
  10. I said in my other post that Im a whitesox fan first and foremost.... but ever since you 2003 run ive been following the cubs.... also Im not a big fan of either the astros/cardinals and I like to root for a team in each division. For Example my favorite team a course being the white sox but AL East: Toronto AL West: Texas NL East: Florida NL Central: Cubs NL West: well I dont really care for anyone in the NL West just hate the giants/dodgers. so there you have it.
  11. I think the Cubs should really target Furcal and Giles. Also while it might be unpopular to some of you I think you guys would also benefit in trading Wood.
  12. Has anyone attended one of these games. Is their a rivalry between the two teams since one are future white sox and the other cubs. Do white sox fans and cub fans go out and attend any of these games.... They should of been pretty exciting this year at least since both had good ballclubs... Also both had stud prospects... Chris Young and Felix Pie mainly.
  13. JR I question whether you like hate the sox more than you like the cubs.... I have to ask if your a Bears or Bulls fan because you do know a lot of those fanbases are the whitesox fans you seemingly cant stand. Which brings out a point... Im assuming most of you are Bear and Bulls fans so everytime you call out the whitesox fan base and call them the worse ever your also calling out the Bears and Bulls the very teams you root for.
  14. It is rosin and if there was any doubt about you bet Garner would of had it checked out. You know a guy that big cant be reach down to pick up a bag all the time  Also he has since gotten married since the angels incidents and has some kids and settled down. The double A manager for the white sox spent a lot of time with Jenks helping him with his issues and it wasnt until he felt Jenks was ready that he was called up to the big leagues.
  15. thats fine and all but some remarks in this thread are way off just bashing of sox fans in general that are largely untrue or similar of all fanbases..... Im sorry but every fanbase has its own share of assholes and those are the ones that you remember the most... I agree that all fanbases have some bad apples, but in the case of the Sox the obnoxious out number the others U see sox fans have the same opinion on cub fans...... Like I said all it takes is a few [edited] and now you link an entire fanbase to them.

  17. Now ill be honest with you... Im a whitesox fan first die hard always been that way. But unlike a lot of us I actually kind of like the Cubs. Its either that or I just dont like the Cardinals/Astros so much and there is no point in rooting for the other 3 teams in your division. Anyways back in 2003 when you guys made your playoff run is really when I started to like you guys a little. Don't get me wrong I watch 160 games of the Sox maybe attend 15-20.... But I think I see around 60 cubs games a season on average. Now that I got that all out. For all the classless sox fans you see there are equally classless cub fans. For all the crap you are taking from the Sox fans now. Sox fans were taking all the crap from a lot of your fanbase in 2003 before you lost. For some reason their is an extreme hate for one another in the city and I have no clue why. I mean Im a whitesox fan first but whats wrong if I enjoy watching the Cubs 2. Although Ill have to admit when you guys lost it didnt really bother me much but if the Sox lost id be crushed.
  18. Lol last year I had Halladay, Beckett, Mussina, Wood, and another good pitcher cant remember who turned out to be a bust. And even with all of those pitchers suckiness I still was 1st at the end of the season. But than lost in the playoffs :( . This year im 1st again les hope I win it all
  19. How could you not say Kerry Wood... after his rookie season greatness was expected from him. Too bad he still hasnt fullfilled it yet he could be such a great pitcher.
  20. The Cards starting rotation is so underated for how good they are. Carpenter has been amazing this year.
  21. ... You might want to look at the statements that he has made about the Cubs over the last two or so years to figure out why he doesn't like Mark. Well what do you expect from a guy who grew up a die hard cardinals fan and is currently playing for the white sox? Gee, I dont know, class? I was thinking more of not a big Cubs fan, anyways it was only 1 comment anyways and for all you know it could even be true. Seriously to make such a big deal about 1 statement isnt healthy. There is more to life than baseball, i suggest you explore it
  22. disagreed. i watched game 6 in a bar on campus, and there were a LOT of sox fans cheering and jumping up and down and hugging each other. i only know of one sox fan who rooted for the cubs in the '03 playoffs. Well a course, but think about it... they were watching the cubs.. I dont think people watch teams to lose just when they were getting their asses kicked they are going to pretend they did. Also judging fans at a bar isnt a great idea. I bet most of them were so drunk they just saw one person cheer and all decided to cheer with him.

  24. As much as the fans of these 2 teams seem to hate each other during the regular season I think its different when it comes to postseason. I know for a fact that in sept. of 2003 cubs and white sox fans for the most part were rooting for each other and hell a lot of people would go to a cubs game than get on the train or whatevr and head to the sox park to see a sox game. Than even though the sox didnt make the playoffs most sox fans watched the cubs in the playoffs and whether they want to admit it or not were rooting for them.
