  1. The bad thing is that watching this team all year... I'm actually used to this sort of thing :(

  3. Neifi with another fly out. No surprise there.
  4. Hairston's arm is really being exposed this inning.. should be man on first with 2 outs.
  5. Cards always do a lot with lead off walks. We need a DP.
  6. Prior learned his lesson to cover the bag the way he hustled that time.
  7. Holly to Prior... "How come it takes so many pitches for you to make an out? Only takes me one pitch."
  8. I wonder if Holly would consider looking at a pitch at all this game.. One pitch = one out with Holly tonight.
  9. Typical Cubs inning that just seems par for the course the last 2 years. when is this team going to get it?
  10. Cubs hit and run = pop out to catcher. Cardinal hit and run = man on second.
  11. Aram been getting into this habit. What doesn't make sense about the bare hands thing he keeps doing is that it really hasn't worked out for him at all.
  12. Prior took more pitches than any cub hitter that inning. Makes you wonder  what the heck are the professional hitters doing up there?
  13. Ever wonder why Prior wants Blanco to catch? We really needed that hit to pick us up from the gutter..
  14. Holly with the first pitch out... geez... I thought they had a team meeting about this nonsense..
  15. He's telling it like it is. Either Prior was simply awful that inning, or the Cards are that good. I don't think he was overjoyed as much as surprised like all of us.
  16. Last inning for Z, he doesn't lead off in the 10th. Time for our bullpen. :(
  17. Last inning for Z, he doesn't lead off in the 10th. Time for or bullpen. :(
  18. This may be one of those games decided by the bullpens. :(
  19. Oakland does do an amazing job year in and year out inspite of their payroll. They even manage to trade players that are an integral part of their team during playoff runs. I'm almost convinced Beane has some formula value measurement for players like the Cowboys used to use for their drafts. Beane seems to always have a good read on what he can get in return for a player (he doesn't overvalue his own players) and finds a way to make trades work for everyone involved.
  20. I realize Perez won a Gold Glove in Colorado, but I don't think of him as a very good defensive infielder any longer. He has fairly sure hands, but very limited range. I saw him make 2 errors in a game against the Nationals this season and there were some balls hit in his direction that Cedeno was getting to earlier in the game before Neifi moved over to short as a "late inning defensive move". I thought one of the many reasons Kansas City got rid of him was that his fielding range had gone down drastically from his Colorado days. I know Perez has this "Gold Glove" reputation, but I just don't see it anymore. Seems to me that Cedeno can field the position better than Perez since he can cover a lot more ground.
  21. Here's an idea. Lets call up Guzman next year. I hear he is recovering well and should be ready. Then we can have Wood start every 10 days and Guzman start every 10 days. It may be the only way for them to be effective for a full season. I know it's a rooster spot, but we already have 12 pitchers anyway and could maybe let Wood and Guzman go a little deeper into the games.
