  1. I like the layout of your post and the information provided. This should be the template for Game Threads.
  2. Is Howry necessary in a 7-0 game?
  3. Saying Hill is our ace is praising Hill for being our best pitcher, not to discredit Z's accomplishments. Z's still good too.
  4. Rothschild coming out to the mound.
  5. Brenley listing all the good hitters with bad averages and a thinly veiled way of defending Soriano's bad play.
  6. Replays also show he was calling for the ball and pulled up a little short because Cedeno was barreling in on him. Had he not done that, he would have made the catch. That was the difference in making the out. Yeah, and if Soriano didn't first run in the other direction of where the ball landed, he'd have enough time to make a standing catch. If Ronny didn't hear Soriano screaming while running in, he certainly wouldn't have heard him standing there waiting for the ball to drop in his glove. Soriano still almost made the catch after taking a bad route to the ball. Had he read the ball correctly, he would have had ample time to catch it. I think part of the reason for the collision was the distance between Cedeno and Soriano. The faster Soriano got to the ball, the quicker Cedeno realizes his CF can make the catch, allowing Cedeno to pull up and let his CF make the catch.
  7. Of course there's no guarantees, but odds of winning would have been better if Soriano had made the out. Soriano's poor defense hurt the Cubs' odds of winning.
  8. Key words: If, likely, and might. As opposed to the certainty, definiteness and reality of today's loss.

  10. Seriously? It's been 9 games. You're being ridiculous. Also, I find it hilarious when people actually boo, and give a "thumbs down" to the player. I don't know why, but I think it's awesomely funny. Fans did it during the FC Dallas/LA Galaxy game last night and it was awesome. Agree on the thumbs down. It's probably because it's such an elementary, kid-like gesture that makes it so funny.
  11. I've been patient with Soriano's below average hitting because his history suggests he will improve greatly. The defense he played today does upset me. In the Reds' 6-run inning, Soriano broke back for a fly ball he eventually had to come in on, and he failed to make the catch. Replays show he was extremely close to making the catch, and I believe the difference in making the out and not was caused by his misread off the bat. If he makes that out, the Cubs likely don't surrender the lead that inning and go on to win. Soriano's defense might have cost us this game.
  12. QFT. Do you live in Montgomery? I've visited and think it's far from a "flea market."
  13. With his slow start, I'm worried fans are going to start getting on Soriano's play by booing and heckling. He's only batting .211 and doesn't have a HR or even an RBI. His struggles are not specific to hitting though, as he has been picked off twice and his bad read on a fly ball today contributed to the huge, lead-changing inning for the Reds. Booing Soriano won't do anything to improve his play, yet I'm afraid some fans will negatively react anyway out of impatience. If booing occurs, I'll be so embarrassed.
  14. Santo's player of the game is Wuertz.
  15. He hasn't exactly helped his situation so far this season. I really like Piniella's strategy today of stealing on Harang and Valentin. It paid off every time and got us an early lead. And simultaneously, I did not like his strategy with the bullpen. Yeah, I'd agree. Ohman was not the man to relieve Z in that situation.

  17. I know this isn't a popular thing to say, but I'm liking Cedeno's odds in this at bat.
  18. Who does Piniella have pitch the 8th? Howry?
  19. Who's the girl in the red in the booth where Montoya is singing?
  20. Sure am glad you couldn't stay quiet earlier. Do you really believe my comment had any effect on the baseball game? Yes, I believe in karma. =D> That's not karma. Yes it is. You don't tempt the baseball gods. If you really believe there's such a thing as baseball gods... good luck to you. hey how can you argue against karma after you said game was ova and this happened Because one has no correlation to the other. That said, my comment was premature.

  22. Ok, I'm officially taking back my post stating everything was going right and that this game is over.
