  1. R Oswalt might not stand for "Roy."
  2. Ramirez needs to suck it up and play.
  3. Look for Z to regain composure and throw a quick, efficient inning.
  4. Just because Soriano's recent hitting hasn't been hot doesn't mean he would have continued at that colder pace for the next four weeks if not injured. That's inaccurate thinking.
  5. Of course he's sandbagging it.
  6. There are of course benefits to this idea. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j163/Niner74/LimaTime.jpg Like herpes? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1936811
  7. I don't think it really matters who closes. But Marmol is the guy who's pitching the best, along with probably Howry. They should be facing the middle of the other team's order; let the other guys take on the 6-9 hitters when possible. If definitely matters who closes. A closer needs to be able to throw strikes (Marmol). Dempster walks a ton of guys and it just builds up the pressure. You should have your best relievers pitching in big situations, whether it be earlier in the game or later, rather than using them in the 9th inning with a lead. The closer label/position is the most overrated thing ever. I agree with this philosophy. Dempster might not be the answer for closer, but making Marmol close would be a poor move.
  8. Was he even back playing since his previous, 25-game suspension? I'm unclear.
  9. I'm going to predict the Cubs will be in first place by August 4th and never lose their lead.
  10. LOL @ HENDRY'S 1%!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!1
  11. I think Hawk is bringing down DJ. It seems every Sox broadcast I watch, Hawk is talking about the greatest player at a specific task, rather than the game at hand. He doesn't offer insight to what's occurring in the live game. Plus he's an irrational homer.
  12. because Dye is not better than Murton right now, and it's not likely that he's going to get better and then you want to add another player Yeah, I'd rather have Murton over Dye mostly based on contracts, but the Cubs would also be getting two draft picks once Dye leaves. If Dye could help us this year, and we get two draft picks, I'd gladly trade Murton. And this is from a Murton fan.
  13. Rome's the man.
  14. What was the background? Busch Stadium? Jim Rome has a radio show and a t.v. show. The radio show is much better. Better than what? Having your fingernails torn off one at a time? I only gave Rome a chance because of a friend pestering me to. Now I'm a huge fan. Rome often says for new listeners to give him two weeks to decide if they like his show because there's some inside/repetitive jokes that newcomers wouldn't understand. He's a professional anchor who has relevant guests based on newsworthiness of the player and his team and the sports in season. The emailers are hilarious. That said, I'm indifferent to his television show. But I definitely recommend his radio show. His one-man format is a nice change, I can't stand two anchors trying to take a show in two different directions and faux-laughter at each other's bad jokes.
  15. What was the background? Busch Stadium? Jim Rome has a radio show and a t.v. show. The radio show is much better. His show and interviews are live on both the radio and t.v. shows.
  16. Yeah, I listened to the interview over and Rome didn't even ask about Derosa's injury.
  17. I must have missed that part of the interview. I didn't hear the whole thing. Sorry guys.
  18. I'll give recap... Says players, coaches and fans weren't on the same page in April. Took a growing period to learn about each other. Derosa told DLee that he still hasn't found out a good routine to get ready for day games! Rome asked Derosa if Piniella's June ejection is what sparked the Cubs run. Derosa said he'd like to say that, but more credits Soriano for getting the team on such a hot streak with his bat and clubhouse personality/energy. Rome asks about the crowd change of Kendall; standing ovation to booing in one game. Derosa said, "you gotta grow a thick skin" to play here. Derosa says playing for Piniella is "unbelievable" and outside of the one public tirade, hasn't heard much out of him. Compared him to Bobby Cox. Derosa says one of his biggest regrets is not staying in college and finishing two more years of quarterbacking for Penn. Says he was better at football than baseball, but didn't have the size to compete at the next level.
  19. Garland should be untradeable because it's unknown how serious his injury is. A few starts ago he got lit up for the worst start of his career, and many believe it's due to the "knot" in his pitching shoulder acting up. He hasn't been much better since that start. That should be a red flag for teams interested in trading for him. I do understand why Ken Williams would want to trade him though, being as he traded the injured Mike Sirotka and Freddy Garcia in offseasons before major injury to both.
  20. Howry gets them 1-2-3. Not a pretty win, but I'll take it. Cubs keep pace with Milwaukee.
  21. Are Cubs fans really booing obvious balls now? We're better than that.
  22. Your post is a moronic idiot. bahaha, nice way to phrase the insult at the comment, not the poster.
  23. Okay, I left the game for a hour when we had a big lead. Bonds hit another? Who's left on our bench?
  24. Assuming this trade is true, who takes his place on the team? It's got to be Cedeno, right?
