  1. something has still got to be going on though - Burnitz in Center - Kearns is brought up..... ahh, screw it. Enough false speculation. All this hope for nothing. And I dont get the love affair with Hill?
  2. I thought so....just making sure. I didn't recall Miles saying anything like that....but for a second curiousity got the better of me :(
  3. umm.... who was it earlier in the season that reported the Cubs had made a deal for a big power bat, and that more details would follow later in the day.....thus causing page after page of speculation on here....then proceeded to say absolutely nothing about the deal ever again - like he never said it?
  4. this Sox - Harang is on my fantasy team and I benched him cause I thought the cubs would rock him tonight!
  5. do you think if Dunn actually does come to the Cubs, Woody will greet him with a smile and be glad he doesnt have to face him anymore?
  6. why did he challenge him with a fastball when Dunn owns Wood?
  7. I'm going to all 3 games @ Busch this weekend - I sincerely hope I get a chance to see Dunn's first games in a cubs uniform!!! :D
  8. well, if teams are looking @ Griffey, they've got this to deal with..... "Griffey is playing with one reminder of the ’04 surgery. Blood still seeps from the incision and occasionally stains his uniform pants. Cubs fans pointed it out during the game Monday night. Griffey shrugged. "It only hampers my wardrobe," he said, smiling. "There are certain things I won’t wear. I wear dark jeans most of the time due to the fact that if it does start leaking people don’t get grossed out."
  9. The upside to all of this - including the most recent Dunn rumor (whether true or not) - is that Hendry is seriously looking to improve this team. :)
  10. "The Chicago Sun-Times' Mike Kiley reports the Chicago Cubs continue to inquire about Cincinnati Reds OF Austin Kearns, but they have taken him off the market." "The Chicago Sun-Times' Mike Kiley reports the Chicago Cubs are in hot pursuit of Florida Marlins OF Juan Pierre. But the Cubs have denied such reports."
  11. the more I think about it - the more this trade makes no sense anyways.... Patterson is at an all time low Hill and Mitre are not necessarily "top prospects", are they? Granted, I think they're both great pitchers, have a ton of potential, and Im definitely a fan of both, but the Reds have got to be asking for alot more than that for Dunn. They asked Cleveland for C.C. and prospects -which is kinda far off from this trade mentioned.
  12. Very true - has he flat out lied like this before? Especially if a deal is in the making and in the immediate future?
  13. I agree. Any extra fire power...no matter who it ends up being...would really be appreciated before we head into Busch. It would mean the world to this Club (not to mention me)to walk in there and take all three. Especially at a time when the Cards have had some injury problems....this would provide even MORE offensive security.
  14. please, oh, please let me see Dunn in a Cubs uniform this weekend at Busch!!!!! :D
  15. I think it's very possible the Cubs may be looking for a closer - but that role with the Cubs would be soley as a backup closer and setup man for Dempster - just like in the previous Wagner to the Cardinals talks. Wagner would be used as a setup guy for Izzy. Demptster definitely earned his job as closer on this team, and he's not going anywhere.
  16. definitely I have a very good friend who's a sox fan - and he said that was the biggest disappointment with Shingo getting DFA'd.....it now hurts their chances of snagging more japanese players.
  17. Im excited to see what Gerut has to offer us - I think it will be a step in the right direction, and based on Hendry's track record, he's had great success we these kinda trades. :)
  18. He's a veratile bench player now that Greenberg's head is broke. So is it the consensus that this will not be the last move we make? I think so.....
  19. Wow. That would sink the Indians ship for sure. Why they would do that when they are within 4 or 5 of the wilcard is beyond me. Why their fascination with Randa? Geezus. I think the general consensus is that the Indians dont need pitching as much as they do a consistent 3B and maybe an OF as well.....who knows, though....
  20. I've heard some talk lately about a Randa > Sabbathia trade....does this add any light to the subject?
  21. I think Jody could possibly be the man to replace who the reds want..... just a thought.
  22. I'm beginning to seriously think we're gertting Dunn - its starting to honestly make sense, or am I just overrationalizing things? Especially given how good we've been playing lately, those are usually the moments when Hendry makes a big move.
  23. If the deal that's posted on Yahoo Sports is accurate, the Fish just unloaded Lowell and Burnett, and those were the only players there was a real need to move. They don't have a CF to replace Pierre, and I wouldn't characterize what they are doing as unloading. They're clearing room for a top OF prospect to play LF, Cabrera slides into 3B, they dump salary, aquire a decent pen arm and bench bat (Bigbie and Julio), and pick up a allegedly serviceable SP in Redman. Florida is more retooling. There's still lots of time for them to get back into the race. Which means if a team wants Pierre, they'll likely listen, but they'll ask for top talent from the minors as well as a ML arm or 2. They got rid of their starting 3B, a good pitcher....and there's lots of talk that they are gonna replace McKeon as well. Retooling - unloading....whatever....they are going through some considerable changes.
  24. Well, I believe that it won't cost us nearly as much to get Pierre as it would Dunn - The Reds are asking for a ton for Dunn, and it appears like Florida is unloading. If I had to choose between the two, Id go with Dunn in a heartbeat. But the truth is, we've been dreaming of getting Dunn all season long and it's not going to happen. I've seen some statistical errors posted for Pierre's production this year as well. If Hendry can pull of acquiring Dunn without sending over our whole farm system and some MLB pitching, I'd be all for it. According to the Reds thus far, however, that isnt the case.
