  1. Good lord. Ramirez needs to capture that line drive power.
  2. The Marlins announcers are actually really good and very tolerable. Alright, let's have Nolasco walk us a run here.
  3. Oy vey, at least Walker showed some patience. C'mon guys, he threw 79 pitches in 3.2 innings last time. Make him work for it.
  4. That would be friggin' sweet. Let's hope it comes true. Thanks for da lineups Bruce! May your interviews yield awesome quotes.
  5. Vance, for some reason the one from your sig made me laugh even harder. Something about "grrriittssssss"....
  6. From the Chicago Sun-Times:
  7. LOL. Check out this quote from Barrett: Methinks there was a bit of sarcasm in that.
  8. Mabry didn't do any more or less than Anderson. IMO, their punishments should be equal. Which is bogus that Mabry even gets 2 games. As far as Barrett, it's a little harsh, but it doesn't surprise me. Hopefully he can get it reduced on appeal. When does this go into effect? Man, it's gonna suck having The White Out catching instead....
  9. But also remember that a pitch that normally should be taken beacuse its a ball, counts as a strike if its swung at. You know, that makes sense now that you say it, but it never before occured to me. Alrighty then. There's no way Contrearas was that good.
  10. TT: Isn't Rusch technically still in the bullpen? Also, how much better is that is that bullpen than three years ago? Man. Talk about a difference. Let's hope this doesn't get Uggla.
  11. Oh crap. I was worried this was Nolasco's debut. Fortunately (knowing the Cubs luck with these things), it is not. Just his second start. And for the record, he's never thrown over 79 pitches, and after that his next closest appearance is 47. His first start was 3.2 IP, 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 3 Ks. Lefties seem to feast on him with a .346/.406/.538 line, but that might just be sample size, he hasn't thrown that many innings.
  12. Looking at the box score, I'm astounded. Contrearas threw 98 pitches, 73 of which were strikes. That's an outstanding ratio. No wonder the Cubs were swinging so much.
  13. If that play had to happen 300 times, I would have wanted him out there each time. Have a good retirement Gonzo.
  14. The Cubs have a 110 BBs total this season. That places them at 26th overall in the majors at drawing walks. The White Sox pitched well, but I think there is a bigger trend at work here. -Banghart Mmmk. True enough. But we faced three good starters from the Sox. Contrearas especially was pounding the strike zone. And when you look at their walks, you're counting 5 walks in 5.2 IPfrom Maddux (which is close to unheard of), Hill gave up 5 walks in 4 IP, and Zambrano gave up 3 in 7 IP. That's two out of three starts where the Cubs pitching was wild and inconsistent, which does not describe the Sox pitching.
  15. I'll still boo him when he misses the cutoff man or gets doubled up off second. Those are plays he should make. I'm also hesitant to call him clutch. There are plenty of situations this year that he could have hit a HR and saved us, but weakly grounded out. His splits against LHP are a joke. But this certainly makes me like him more.
  16. They had good pitching, we didn't. I really don't think there's much more to it.
  17. First of all, I'm tired of hearing "Kerry's a wuss" or "Prior's a baby". You know what? I want to see YOU go out there and get surgery on your shoulder or get him by a line drive and then go out and pitch. These guys are major league players, they didn't get here by whining and being weak. I wanna see YOU rehab for 6 months. That takes dedication, it takes guts, and it takes class. Which is more than I can say for those who call Prior or Wood "soft" over the faceless internet. Back on topic, this is bad news, but not horrible. Maybe he sits one outing and then feels better? My guess is that he was a bit rushed getting back, so what if he sits out one game? Also, he could still pitch. It's nothing confirmed. It's the Cubs just being careful, and I'm fine with that.
  18. Anyone else yell "Suck it Joe!!" when he miffed that grounder?
  19. Yup. Thome is dangerous, and we don't want to make it a one run game. Plus, I don't think he's too fast.
  20. And Z is good for the possible win!!! THATS MAH CUBBIES!!
  21. AHAHAHHAHA!!! YEAH!!! CUBBIES THERE YA GO!!!
