I know I'm gonna get crap for this, but I'd rather have Murton than Matsui. I mean, if you're gonna go after Matsui, why not just go all out and get Cabrera? Sure, he'd be more expensive, but Matsui is old.
This is what I expect Hendry to do this offseason: *Offer Pierre a two-year deal worth about $8.5 a year. *Go after Soriano to play 2nd Base *Claim Carlos Lee is overpriced (which he will be) *Leave Murton in LF, and Jones in RF *Sign some pitchers or something *Probably trade Cedeno and keep Izturis
Man, all this coporate involvement in baseball makes me sick. The luxury boxes, the fancy seats in the bleachers, the on-field practice before games, it just makes me really, really sick to be a "common" fan.
I agree that this is the difference maker, and that Pie needs AT LEAST another half-year down at AAA. I want to see him strike out a bit less, and give him more time to develop.
Although the steal needs some clarification in the minds of managers, I think the bunt sacrifice needs even more. I just can't stand it when I see Ronny or someone lay down a bunt with nobody out and a man on first. EDIT: Exception being the pitcher of course.
That's ok Fred. I just wanted do demonstrate my knowledge of the trucking system. Which I think I accomplished by saying 'humper'. :P I don't seriously want it as a job. It doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy at all. Although I am still looking for jobs for next year (in case anyone has a good offer)
Wow, that's not gonna increase his payroll next year. I hope he's alright. It just wouldn't be the same without being able to heckle Edmonds from the bleachers.
Bakers isn't all of the problem, but extending him is no kind of solution. If he's back, I'll be pissed. He has no idea how to fill out a lineup card, and if you disagree, only go back to when Neifi batted second.
Just guessing, in no particular order: Chris Carpenter Jake Peavy Pedro Martinez John Smoltz Roger Clemens Although I'm not sure I'd trade Z for any of these guys.
Hawkins gave up the 3-run, game tying home run to Diaz with two outs in the 9th. Some no-name hit the game-winning home run off Mercker in the 11th. God that game sucked. I remember watching it in NY right before my aunt's wedding. The announcers were just saying how he hadn't hit a homerun in Shea or something....That just crushed me. And, I guess, the Cubs.
